A 100 Pound 2 Year Old?  

This is a mess.I agree with you on the way food and bottles are used.I think the child needs to learn that confort does not come from food and maye the parents need to stop using the bottle as a confort.I think becuase they do this so much they do not know when the child is hungry or needs something else.Do you think this is abuse?I do in a way.

No you are not the only one. Over eating in America (and I take it your are American?) is such a huge problem. An vverweight child is a far worse thing than an overwieght adult. And when I personally see a child overweight (not by a few pounds, but VERY overweight) I can't help but feel terrible for them and blame the parent completely. Maybe I am being unfair. I am a mother, however, of 2 healthy and thin children-My son is 7 and weighs about 60 pounds and my daughter is 4 and weighs a mere 32.

Yes, I have seen those Maury episodes with those severely obese children. That is horrible, and the parents think it's cute?? It's dangerous! I wish they would wake up... I wouldn't think it's so cute if my 3 year old who weighed 150 lbs was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes!!

I do see a lot of mother put a bottle in there mouth, instead holding themor seeing what they need. But I do think genes have something to do with it. My kids have to different dads. My son is like my ex husand skinny, my son weights 62lb and he is 10 1/2. My daughter is like her father. She just turned 5 and weights 45 lbs. And they were not feed any different as babies. Now they eat differently now, most of the time they eat the same amount.

Maybe some moms aren't tuned into their children. Maybe they haven't had training from their own moms to know when to feed and what to feed. Can the "village" teach kids how to be parents? It just doesn't happen. Parenting advice is something is handed down from mother to daughter, but if mom is not around to do this, how will someone learn?
And another generation suffers. You aren't the only one who has noticed.

no you r not alone. i myself have seens a lot of obese young children and wonder what their health is gonna be...i am just worried abt them

I think that it is crazy. People should care about the weight of there child. It is the same thing when all the feed there children is fast food. When does that child get fruits and veggies?

I think your right on this one. Although babies can't talk as soon as their born so it can be sometimes hard to work out what there after unless an expert in babies crying.
People like to see chubby babies as they think it's cute but then when the kid grows up, they get bullied and stick because of it & yes no one seems to think of the health problems.

I think it is horrible! I have seen a few of the Maury shows on this, some of the mothers need to be SLAPPED!! I can understand them wanting their child to be "happy" and give them everything they want...when it should just be giving them what they NEED!

Some of the children have an actual problem with obesity, others are just over fed. I don't think some of these parents realize what they are doing to their childs health. =( Its so sad.
