Was Madonna unjustly attacked by the media when she adopted her son?

I personally think it was ridiculous the way the media stormed her and her family over the adoption of her son. They also made it out to be like she just went over and got him without any strings, but didn't bother to show you the truth behind what she's gone through to get the boy. Do you think she was attacked by the media, simply based on her celeb status?

Yes I think she was unjustly attacked. But I think if it was Angelina Jolie then there wouldn't have been such a stink.

Anyone should be allowed to adopt kids without a fuss. I just think Angelina gets better press and that is the only reason she wouldn't.

Eventually the media will find out that Angelina Jolie isn't as innocent either. Just give it some time. I'm sure they're just waiting for her to screw up just like the rest of them.

That's the media for ya! They will pick apart anything and go to any level to make someone look bad or totally twist the situation around. Madonna did a very kind thing by adopting a little boy, it's ridiculous that the media has to try to pick that apart too.

I agree with you, she was just trying to do what she thought was best, bear in mind that she may no longer be able to have children herself, due to her age, so it's good that she wanted to adopt a badly off child, the only problem I've got is that she lives in England, there are badly off children waiting for adoption here, so why go to another country to do it?

I do think it was terrible for the media to attack her about the adoption of her son. Celebrities seem to get attacked for a lot of things and it is not right. I am sure she had to go through the same adoption process that everyone else goes through regardless of their status but the media always thinks that celebs get off easy.

Exactly and the funny part is, they don't attack politicians like they do celebs and we all know politicians use their status to get certain things!

Do we know for sure that Madonna DIDN'T get special treatment in her adoption, that she didn't make some kind of special "donation" to make things go smoothly? Didn't she agree to pay the father's family? As for politicians, they are raked over the coals by media every day. Not to say that the pols don't sometimes deserve it, but I hear it every day in the news. That's why many people don't want to run for office anymore, they don't like the endless media scrutiny. They crawl all over politicians' homes and offices the same way they do with celebrities.

Of course she was. It's the same with Britney Spears. I say to leave these people alone! Grr!

I believe so that Madonna was attacked unjustly by the media. I dont think she committed a big crime that she deserves such criticisms. I think its the media itself that is descriminating the black baby. Its the people that put malice and descrimination on what she did. I think we have no righ to attack Madonna that way. In fact she will be giving a brighter life for that kid.

I think she was attacked because the child was black and she was white. Whether people want to say or not. the race factor is still big and strong in the USA. Even thou it shouldn't be.

I don't think so. Celebrities gladly seek out media attention to sell their movies, music, etc. Madonna surely knew her visit to African villages would cause a stir. She certainly has the money to do a quiet, low-key adoption if she so desired. Instead, she wandered out to several villages. Even Madonna's mother in law said she suspected that Madonna was adopting this child to compete with Angelina Jolie. How is it in the best interests of the child, if a celebrity adopts a child as a fashionable accessory? And why do reporters cover these celebrities' every move? Because people want to know everything about what celebrities do. I don't, but look at how popular show=biz msagazines, TV shows, and Web sites are. Look at how many discussions there are on Mylot about celebrities I do think some of these organizations go overboard. But I wouldn't call them "the media," they're specifically the show-biz oriented reporters and cameramen. These celebrities eagerly court the attention of the press and the public; they know that taking a trip to a far-off land is going to be covered in detail. They can't just turn that off whenever they want.

i think the way she was attacked was very wrong and the only reason it was on the front pages for weeks was because there was no real news to report
