In my friends words....in this podunk town? We are lucky to have a movie theatre that plays a couple movies at a time! I wish there was a drive in! I love the drive ins!

Ready -- Action! - movies have been a big deal in most towns that have been fortunate to have a theatre and drive ins where a grand thing while they have lastes. Let us hope they make a return
Tis a shame, movies seem to be so much of a universal thing...The drive-in is a great family or date place. Thanks for responding.

No, we don't have one locally that I can think of. Maybe somewhere in the more civilised parts of England but I never heard of one.

drive in movie theatre view - double feature movie outdoors and great snacks, seen from you car, comfort is sometimes an issue
Just might be an American thing. not sure..took them for granted until they began to disappear.

There isn't one in my county but there is one in the next county over from me. Its only about a 20 minute drive but it is only open in the summer time. I haven't been to a drive in since I was little. I can't even remember what movie I saw.

I fear that drive-ins are dying out. There is not one anywhere near where I live now. I remember seeing the original Planet of the Apes at the drive-in when I was little. In Colorado where I live, there is a drive-in at a motel. All the motel rooms face a large screen and the rooms are equiped with sound units so they can watch the movie. There is no extra charge for the movie. It's a hoot! So, is this really a Sleep-in movie??

Fairlee Motel and Drive in - The Fairlee Motel & Drive-in opened in 1950 and, like the Movie Manor, is a motel/drive-in combination (from what I found, there are only these two). All 12 units have picture windows and speakers, which lets motel guests watch movies on the big screen. You need not be a guest of the motel to see the movies -- there is room for 400 cars which is sweet.
Oh wow! That is the first time I heard of this. Such a cool idea. I would call it the comforts of home movie!!! Thanks for responding!!Is it the Movie Manor, drive-in motel? I found another one in Vermont! wow!

We had one in our home town many years ago. I remember going there when I was a teenager. It has since closed. There is one about 20 minutes from where we live. It is for sale. The drive-in's are a piece of Americana that can't be replaced.

drive in movie theatre - family night at the movies, nice weather, cool breeze, good snacks, children laughing, a good time is had by all
I wholeheartedly agree. We have our one and it is charming. It too could use a new owner. I hope it is always there. They play pretty new movies too. We pay only 6 bucks a piece to get in. Adam at 11 is still free til this summer. Hopefully we can keep the theatres that are still left!!! Thanks for responding.

We used to live near enough to 4 of them ,but they are all gone now. When we were young{there were 8 of us}my parents would dress us in our pjs, take snacks and we would go to the drive in. It was a great time. When my son was little a couple were still open so he got to experience them. I just think they were such fun.
