When I was a teen, I did it with a group of friends. No one does it anymore. Why?

I have always belonged to church groups that did caroling. We are scheduled for Dec. 20, caroling and chili supper. A few years back they tried to discontinue this tradition at my church and some adult classes took it over and it survived. We will visit all of the elderly from our church, in their homes and in nursing homes, we will have 8-12 groups who go out to sing. At the end we sing to the kitchen before we eat. When I was a teen my boyfriend (later my husband) and I would take our friends, and our younger siblings carolling. I guess you just have to look, or plan a carolling even yourself.
