We are going to Uk soon and there is a lot of talk of going on the London Eye. I have only seen photo's of it. I am terrified of things like that. Will have to refuse, but don't want to put a damper on the trip. I will have to stay on the ground and happily wait. Have you been on the London Eye?

What is the London Eye? Is that a ferris wheel or something? I've heard it mentioned but don't know what it is.

Your discussion title caught my "Eye" in passing, and then I realised the discussion was started 3 years ago? Hopefully You have since enjoyed your trip, but an update on whether you went on the Eye or not would be helpful to others that were in your position when you started this! I myself have been on the Eye a few years ago now..You have the option of booking in advance,or turning up on the day and waiting in line.. (I booked online-The "Eye" is sponsored by British Airways, and the operators call your ride on it a "Flight!" I myself do not like violently moving fairground attractions..Showpiece attractions like the "Oktoberfest" Giant Ferris Wheel and the "Eye" are NOT scary, unless you are phobic about heights..if you can look out over a balcony in a building at the streets below, you could cope with the Eye..each capsule is the size of a small bus..they could hold about 20 or so people giving each room to look at the view over London..I was visiting Belfast(NI) a few months ago,and saw what has been dubbed the "Belfast Wheel" in operation beside City Hall..A friend refused to go on it! I went back on my own..An amazing view out over the city..turns out this one is 100 metres tall..the London eye is over Double that!
