Magnetic Ribbons, are we going too far?

I'm sure you've all seen the magnetic ribbons they sell to stick on your bumper; "Support the troops," "Breast Cancer" etc. Well I saw one today that was white with soccer balls all over it and it said "Soccer Mom". Originally when they came out I thought it was a great way to show your support for certain causes but now I think we are going a bit too far.
Have you seen anything like this? Are we going over board on the ribbons?

I saw one that said "Support Strippers." I thought that was kind of bizarre.

Yeah I'd say that one is a bit bizarre myself. I won't ask on it.

I think the ribbons really need to stay centered on health issues and our troops. To keep adding things like this not only cheapens the others but may lead to a point where they are so ubiquitous as to be invisible and of no further awareness use. I think it would be very sad to get to that point with an awareness campaign that has worked well for so long.

I agree. It takes away the meaning of the ribbons. If they do it for everything it loses it's meaning. I don't want to see that happen. There should be meaning to them.

Nah...I think that's mild...just a fun way of telling people something about yourself. I remember I love my dog signs on cars from a few years ago!

I don't mind the normal bumper stickers. If she'd had a round one up there or square, but as a ribbon? The ribbon style was designed to be in support of our soldiers and other causes. It just seems to me that it makes the ones that really stand for something other then ourselves to be cheapened.

Seems like once we get one good thing people always have to take it too far doesn't it? Hopefully they won't take it much further.

When I see those ribbons I think they are to support a cause. Soccer Mom? How dumb! That's as bad as those Baby on Board stickers from back in the day.

I agree. The Ribbons usually are to show a cause not just to show what you do with your life. Cancer, support our troops, AIDS, far reaching causes yes but not not supporting your kids at a sport.
