Im booked to go abroad (Isle of Man) for Christmas. I booked the hotel back last June and the flights and hired a car over there. Ive paid for the whole lot as a present to my hubby, mum and daughter. It cost a packet and Ive done without a lot to pay for it but was so looking forward to it I cant tell you. We are due to travel in eight days and I got a call this morning- one week before Christmas cancelling my Hotel booking. They said the Hotel is gone into liquidation. I dont understand this. I rang a month ago to confirm the booking and to ask for an extra room(son and girlfriend wanted to come) and was told they are fully booked since August for the Christmas and New year. I had to book somewhere else at short notice and due to it being Christmas Im now paying double what I was which I can ill afford. Im disgusted and apparently have no comeback as they didnt take a deposit or anything but did confirm in writing my booking.Has anything like this ever happened to you?

Oh that is awful, seems strange seeing as they were fully booked, I hope you can arrange something else where, I hope you have a lovely Christmas any way.

I know you are upset and certainly have a right to feel the way you do. However, in a few years you will look back and it will be a travel tale. So don't let it spoil your vacation. Have fun and enjoy it.

if you paid with a cr4edit card.....it should be refundable i would think. They have travel insurance built into the card
