Is it just me or are there other people who get really irked with this "Happy Holiday" stuff. On TV, the radio the newspaper ads people wishing Happy Holiday. It is Christmas time, why did people stop saying Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year? I know we live in a multicultural society. Some people celebrate Hanukkah, some Diwali, some other festivals. So for most of them Christmas has no significance. I respect everybody's festivals but why can't I get a "Merry Christmas Greeting"?

what is the big deal if you get a "happy holidays" or "merry christmas" greeting? they pretty much seem like the same thing to me, but "happy holidays" also incorporates news years too. you are right, we live in a multicultural society, so we have to be conscious of other peoples' religious beliefs. not everyone celebrates christmas, so, in order to reach everyone, people on TV or on the radio just say "happy holidays." it is not just "christmas" time. it is also hanukkah time and kwanzaa time and whatever else time, so why should christmas take precedence over all other religious holidays only because you celebrate it and not the others?

If the others do not celebrate Christmas it is just fine with me. I happen to live in country where the majority of people profess to be Christian. I always wish my Jewish friends Happy Hanukkah and add "if you are celebrating it" if I wish Merry Christmas to people when I am unsure. I know many Asian people to whom Christmas means nothing so they don't even regard it as a holiday. My point is that this "Political Correctness" is carried too far. For a while we had to call the Christmas trees in public squares "Holiday Trees"

It seems odd to me for suddenly people to be getting up set with the Happy Holiday thing. It is not any thing new. I remember It from years and years ago. Stores had Happy Holidays in the windows. It meant Merry Christmas and Happy New Year combined. Its a media blitz.
