Well, I guess it would depend upon your system and what you plan on doing with it. I currently use a GeForce FX5200 128 MB video card on my home built computer. It's the lower end spectrum card for the MSI MS-6570 motherboard with an Athlon XP 2500+ processor. It is adequate for all things except for the newest computer games, which commonly require 256 MB video cards and 3 gig processors. Personally, I don't want to get that fancy. Another question is what can you afford? What determines the power of a video card is not necessarily the range of it's Megabytes, but it's chipset, that number that follows the name of the video card. For instance, on my motherboard, the highest chipset recommended is the FX6800 Geforce card. I could not afford one such a card and bought the FX5200 instead. It has proven adequate for my needs and have no complaints about it.

I am using Geforce FX5500 256mb 128 bit. This VGA card is affordable and it is also powerful when it comes to gamings.

Wow, alot of people still using the old FX series. If you are buying a new card the important thing is do you have an AGP or PCI Express slot. For either of those I'd say the GeForce 7600GS or 7600GT as the best value. If you only have a crappy PCI slot then the FX series is the best you can get. I currently use a GeForce 6800GT, but with the 8800 series out now it's just a matter of time before my card is considered outdated.
