Who taught you how to use the internet or how did you learn?

Did you learn how to use the internet by yourself or did you have a family or friend teach you? Did you take a course or read a book on it? A friend of mine helped me learn how to use it many years ago and have learned a lot on my own since then.

I started learning the internet right before Yahoo became a search engine. One would purchase a book that looked like the yellow pages and look up internet sites and type them in. If was horrible! I was so happy when Yahoo come out!!! So, I kinda grew with the internet. And also, at that time, AOL was the provider that one would go with. My partner did not want AOL and went with a little local provider that just supplied the basics. It was cheap and really did the trick of making me learn how to surf and search for what I was looking for instead of using a Intranet like AOL.

That is great that you did not go with Aol since they charge a lot anyways and I like it better to use the world wide web much better than a certain program like Aol or Prodigy or any of the other ones. I think it is pretty easy to use the internet and if we have friends or family to give us some advice that is even better.

I was never interested in the computer until I took some college courses and then I almost had to know how to use one. My friend at the time, who is now my boyfriend, taught me the basics. Then from there, I pretty much learned myself.

It is good that got some advice from your boyfriend as there can be a lot to know about a computer. Now a days children more know than us adults since they are learning how to use a computer at an earlier age than a lot of us.

I have only had my computer about 9 months, my son taught me some things. I have mostly learned on my own, I am still learning. And thanks to mylot I am learning even more stuff. It has been so much fun, I don't know why I didn't get a computer before. Now I can't imagine not having one.

That is great that your son helped you get started. There is so much to learn but it is not too difficult and meeting people on here and other sites can be very helpful as well. There is always something new to learn here or on the net. Glad that you are enjoying it. :-)

I simply got myself access to the internet and found my way around. It would not have occurred to me to ask for advice because the basic idea seemed fairly obvious. Of course it takes a little time to become accustomed to the browser interface and search engines, but you soon pick up the basics and gradually improve your search techniques etcetera.

I think it is fairly simple to use and find your way around unless a person knows nothing about a computer or the internet. You are right about the different browsers and search engines being tricky a bit.

I pretty much learned it on my own, but I had some help from a couple TV shows called "Call For Help" and "The Screen Savers". They made me more comfortable with the computer and taught me a LOT! Man, I miss those shows. :(

I was pretty much self taught, years ago before there was such thing as unlimited usage!! Lucky for me it was part of my job as an internet marketing analyst. My most favorite position EVER! lol

I learned by getting a computer from a rent to own store, and then just sitting down and playing with it. I did have a good friend at the time who answered questions for me if I hit something that totally made my head explode, but for the most part it was just trial and error.

That is great that you learned on your own as it shows that you are very intelligent and can do things on your own. I bet that you are a whiz on the computer. :-)

There is always more things to learn on using the internet as things are always changing with it. I probably could have learned on my own but it is nice to have friends who are willing to help as well.

I did it all by myself. No one showed me anything. I like to try things on my own first and if I don't get it then I'll ask for help.
