Which do you think is better. I'm using windows. Its standard based and a whole lot of people prefer that. But I've noticed that Mac users have an easy life. No email viruses. No trojan horses. Things usually work, well, better. Not so for windows users

I use mainly Windows and Linux, personally I would probably like a Mac over Windows, but my job basically requires me to use Windows. Windows XP isn't too bad compared to other versions of windows, but Mac is still more stable and less prone to viruses.
I do like Linux better than both Mac and Windows. It is free and you have ultimate control over how it works. For newbies, it might be a bit more difficult to figure out problems compared to a Mac or Windows. But, it also gets no viruses. There are many different versions of Linux.
One version of Linux I'd recommend is http://www.ubuntu.com/ - you can download it and make a "live cd" out of it so that you can just run it off of the CD rather than installing it on your computer. This will help you decide whether you like it or not before you install it. If you don't have a fast internet connection, you can even order the CD from the website for free (even the shipping is free).
Anyhow, I know your question was about Mac vs. Windows, but thought I'd throw in my 10 bits.
