|  Did you know that President Gerald Ford.....
1.That he was born on July 14, 1913 in Omaha Nebraska as Leslie Lynch King, Jr. His parent seperated 16 days after his birth and divorced the following December. On February 1, 1916, his mother married Gearld Rudolff Ford, a paint salesman. She began calling her son Gerald Rudolff Ford, Jr. Although never formally adopted, he legally changed his name on December 3, 1935.
2.He went to Grand Rapids High School and was the star athlete of his football team. In 1930, he was selected to the All city team of Grand Rapids City League. He attended the University of Michigan and was the center and linebacker for the football team. He helped the Wolverines go undefeated and win national titles in 1932 and 1933. In 1935, he was a part of the Collegiate All Star Team that played the Chicago Bears in an exhibition game at Soldier Field. His jersey #48 has been retired by the school.
3.He attended Yale Law School and graduated in 1941. In May of that same year he opened a Grand Rapids Law Practice with a friend.
4. He served in the Navy from April 13, 1942 until February 23, 1946. Then on June 28, 1963 he resigned from the Naval Reserve.
5. On October 15, 1948, he married Elizabeth Bloomer Warren and had 4 children:
a. Michael Gerald Ford (3-14-50)a minister
b. John Gardner Ford (aka Jack) (3-16-52) a journalist and public relations consultant (not to be confused with tv personality Jack Ford)
c. Steven Meigo Ford (5-19-56) an actor and Rodeo Rider
d. Susan Elizabeth Ford (7-6-57) a photographer.

| |  Gerald ford became the president(1974-1977) when Richard Nixon had to resign. Nixon had to resign because of the watergate scandal. The watergate building is the democrat's office, and some burglers were found trying to steal information. Nixon denied he had anything to do with it, but a probe revealed that he had infact ordered the whole covert operation.He is the president of the US to have resigned. He was convicted, but a month after Ford became the president he granted pardon to Nixon. HE was criticised for this.He saw the end of vietnam war through .He had to contend with inflation and recession during his tenure. He lost the next election to Jimmy carter.

| |  I was amazed to learn all this yesterday while reading an article in the Washington Post about the late President Ford. We never learned much about him or President Nixon in history in school, so I was in the dark about much of his presidency and life. He seems to have been a good president and a very influential politician and person. I hope that the history books will be written to include more about him and other presidents so that our children will learn what amazing people they were/are.
