Internet criminals to step up "cyberwar" in 2007  |

|  Computer hackers(1) will open a new front(2) in the multi-billion pound "cyberwar" in 2007, targeting mobile phones, instant messaging and community Web sites such as MySpace, security experts predict.
As people grow wise to email scams(3), criminal gangs will find new ways to commit online fraud, sell fake goods or steal corporate secrets.
"The attacks are becoming more sophisticated(4)," said Dave Rand of Internet security firm Trend Micro. "It's all about making money. And they're making a lot of it," he told Reuters.
In 2007, hackers will be scouring(5) social networking sites such as MySpace to gather information for more focused attacks on people's computers.
"It is definitely an area that is ripe for more exploitation by malware (malicious(6) software)," said Ed English, Trend Micro's Chief Technology Officer for anti-spyware.
People could find their computers infected with viruses that secretly record all their keystrokes(7) or send out millions of spam email messages.
Identity theft fraudsters will trawl(8) through sites which allow people to leave their pictures and personal details, finding targets for "phishing" attacks – fraudulent(9) emails aimed at tricking people into revealing credit card numbers.
Hackers will also target people using instant messaging services or making telephone calls over the Internet in 2007, Trend Micro said.
Powerful new mobile phones and portable computers will also be targets as thieves try to bypass(10) tight security to steal emails, documents or contacts, security firm McAfee said.
"Modern mobile phones are in essence(11) miniature portable computers," the company said in its annual crime report. "Mobile devices present a serious challenge."
McAfee warns that spying on businesses will become more sophisticated. Criminals are hiring students to plant as sleepers in companies and huge amounts of data can be removed on small, portable memory sticks.
"Corporate espionage(12) is big business," its report says. "Data is often priceless property. Stealing trade secrets, information or contacts is a lucrative(13) money-spinner(14) for cybercriminals."

| |  I would not be surprised as the hackers are always looking to do things to peoples computers and other things. New viruses are always being created and they keep getting more creative and causing more harm to people and their information and computer systems. It is hard to combat internet crimes as it usually takes a while for the government and law enforcement agencies to figure out who is hacking or making viruses or worms. As long as we have the internet, there will always be a threat of some kind.

| |  wow this is good information that you gives for us, thank you for it and keep sending like that. I want to know what happended me in new year day. In new year night I went to curch stop chatting with my friends. So I couldnt swithch off my internet and comp. So when I am back to comp I saw yahoo is blinking and blinking. So I thought something wrong.
Then I got call some bad girl u know the severs sends bad sites ... that person called to me and that time I go out side to fire the crackers and i couldnt cut the call. So again I back to comp after 30 min and I saw that bad caller still online and her window is getting larger than my desktop, hhh god then I reaised she is hacker or something like that so I wanna tell to u guys please get rid of this type of callers . Be aware.

| |  It's strange. I understand the profit motive. And, I have little sympathy for people who think they are going to profit because some African Prince needs to move money around using someone else's bank account. Criminal activities are all around us. It's not new. The technology simply makes it easier and more cost effective for the crooks.
But the virus and worm writers, who's only goal is to make life difficult for as many people as possible, those people I don't understand at all.
You will see lots of dire warnings from Internet security companies. It's the way they sell their products.

Funny thing is, every time there is an extended vacation, college kids hop online to test there pet viruses and boot programs. They indiscriminately disrupt the flow of whateer is going on for the thrill of it.
These attacks are not new. They will be taken care of as always.
