Compression Stockings - They aren't just for old ladies (no insult intended)

I never thought that I would wear compression stockings. I wear them often to support my legs when I am walking or doing activities that I find myself on my feet for long periods of time. I also wear them when traveling long distances. They are beneficial for those who have achy and tired legs. Those that stand on their feet all day can suffer from edema and mild varicose veins. Wearing mild to moderate compression stockings can help reduce pain and fatigue, and also the swelling caused by edema (fluid retention). They come in a variety of styles. Ladies can get stockings that are sheer or resemble tights, or regular socks. Men also wear them too. They look like regular socks and come in different lengths. I do not recommend a sock that does not go to at least the knee when there is swelling of the lower limb. This can cause further health problems.

You must be reading my mind, I have been thinking about getting me some. For the past week my ankles have been swollen. I think it is from sitting at the computer too long.

THis could be true. Try elevating your feet while you are sitting at the pc. Or try doing some simple leg exercises.

I actually had to wear them at the age of 15 years old because when I had my son, I was showing signs of blood clots in my legs. So they made me wear them and I hated it! LOL
