What has helped you the most with your fibromyalgia? |

| I found if I fast regularly and don't let "uric acid" build up in my muscle and joints I do much better. Also keeping a regular bedtime/wake up time. When I get off a sleep pattern I have a wealth of problems physically. I got a sleep number bed 2 years ago and that has helped make a difference. What helps you? | | | | | |

| | Lots of deep REM sleep, which is tough because I have sleep apnea. I also use a memory foam mattress pad, since I cannot afford a sleep number bed. Also, I try to get exercise, but I am careful not to over do it. Eating right, exercising, and getting enough sleep are the best non-pharmacological remedies I have found. How do you keep uric acid from building up in your body? Exercise? | | | | | | |

| | I just did a sleep study and found i have sleep apnea too. We were blessed when mom passed so we got the sleep # bed. I agree that eating right, excersing and sleep are big factors in helping -- I do a juice fast when I start getting a lot of pain for about 7 days to flush uric acid and a ton of other toxins from my system and imagine that exercise helps with it too. I know when I was diagnosed with fibro = I did a major extended fast and it helped immensely -- caution though before fasting read up on it research and get a health provider to help you if you fast more then 7 days. :) | | | |

| | What has helped me most was eliminating caffeine from my diet in all forms. If I eat or drink anything with caffeine in it I immediately start to have muscle spasms. Also I take Arthrotec for the pain it is an NSAID available only by prescription. | | | | | | |

| | I hadn't thought of that, I really only have 1-2 cups of coffee a day. I wonder if the caffeine interrupts the ability to get quality adequate sleep -- I know the sleep cycle is big for me. I have never heard of Arthrotec - I have been prescribed 800mg Ibuprofen 3x a day - but I stopped that because I don't think its good for my body in other ways. | | | |

| | Nothing has helped me. But, then I don't know what to do about the condition. I take a pain pill when it is out of hand. What do you do for it? I cannot exercise, as I have a foot problem recently and cannot walk. | | | | | | |

| | I wonder if doing some simple stretching would ease some of the pain and discomfort for you. I know for me it's important that I stay active, the times are really painful is when I begin to ache in every small joint like my fingers and such. I do know that since I have been using a c-pap machine for my sleep apnea - I am getting better rest and don't hurt so much --- proper rest and adequate sleep is important I think. I hope your foot problem is resolved soon. | | | |

| | I have a number of medications that I take daily for my fibromyalgia. Additionally, I try to stay warm (cold temperatures tend to make me hurt). Staying adequately hydrated seems to help too. | | | | | | |

| | I have had Fibromyalgia for years before I was actually diganosed, showed first symptoms at the young age of 4 (i am now 22). I also have Chronic Fatigue Syndrome as well. I am still learning how to cope, i don't eat as much meat, haven't thought of kicking the caffeine habbit. I am starting to do some gentle exercises, and I take small doses of Effexor every day and Flexiril when I can't handle it anymore. Any other advice would be great. | | | | | | |

| | Check patootie's post on fibromyalgia. She has listed every possible symptom. You probably have symptoms you didn't even know were related to fibromyalgia. It has been known as the irritable everything illness because it affects the central nervous system which affects, well, everything. | | | |

| | My sister has gotten great results with a couple of products. One is OPC3 and the other is ORAC. Both are available at www.jemo.unfranchise.com And she has a supplement routine she follows that took her from a daily pain level of 10 to a pain level of 2. She basically got her life back. She is more than willing to talk to people about what she did. | | | | | | |

| | Vicodin helps me.LOL! I have alot of other chronic pain ailments too,so I take a handful of medications. I have done all the therapy my insurance allows and nothing worked at all.I have learned that you have to get enough sleep and pace yourself. Also you need to stay active,no matter how small. And every day is different. | | | | | | |

| | I have to agree. I drink fortified orange juice to help flush the uric acid out of my muscles, and it really does help. I don't have a sleep number bed, but I do have a 5 inch memory foam on my bed. That really does help too. | | | | | | |

| | Now you see, I can't drink citrus juice because of the acid. I have Acid Reflux (also common with fibromites). I do take Prevacid so I have my acid reflux under control but acidic foods of any time are not really good for you. You should be taking in more alkalides than acids. | | | |

| | What has helped my fibromyalgia is Mag-Citrate. It is a combination of Magnesium and Malic Acid. Magnesium itself aids in over 300 bodily functions. It is quite necessary for fibromites. I take three Mag-Citrate a day. Our town sold out of it once and I had to go without for about a week. I certainly noticed the increased pain when I didn't have it. I have gone from taking 6-8 Tylenol 3's a day to 1-3 Tylenol 3's a day. Weight loss has something to do with that as I can now only take one at a time where I used to take two. Exercise helps, pacing and knowing my limitations. | | | | | | |
