How much sleep do you get on average?

I know that I do not get enough. Most people are mildly sleep deprived. I average 4.5 hours most nights, but every 10 - 12 days I crash and sleep for about 9 -10 hours. And I do not do any kind of shift work, though I do have to go out many nights for my job. Anyone else with bizarre sleep patterns?

I do think I'm sleep deprived a lot of the time. I have a very broken sleep pattern. I will sleep for maybe 3 hours, then I get up with my husband between 3 and 3:30 AM when he has to get ready for work, depending on his start time. I go back to bed when he leaves and then I get the kids up at 6AM for school. Everyone thinks I'm nuts for getting up with my husband but he is a very sound sleeper who will sleep right through an alarm, even if it's right next to his head! He worries so much about being late for work that it's better for me to just wake him up and make sure he actually GETS up... otherwise, he hardly rests because he's so concerned with oversleeping. I'm only up about 20 mins all together but it's still interrupting my own sleep pattern. On a good night, I get 5-6 hours in total. I also have to set my alarm on weekends (because I work from home) so I never "sleep in."

I think it's great that you get up with your husband. what a nice gesture and a way to be closer. i wish my wife would get up when I do; it's not even that early !

I hardly get any sleep. I cant do anything in the daytime so at night when everyone else is sleep i do what i can do. It seems as if the hours in the day arent enough and i dont have time for sleep. But im not going to lie it catches up to me but when it does i take a power nap and i'm OK. Take care.

I follow a similar pattern. And I wait until everyone else is asleep as well. It's a great time to be productive, but our health may be suffering in the long run.
