This year my sister and I will be taking a second holiday on Malta. Our reasons for going there in the first place was that our father spent most of his war service there during WW2. The photo shows the Grand Harbour at the capital, Valetta. Has anyone else been there or would like to go there?

I am a native here. I have an over 70yr old English serviceman who regulary visits our family. He served at Ta' Qali when he was stationed in Malta and often comes here for a short visit during summer. HOpe you'll enjoy your stay in Malta.

Thanks for your response. I'm sure that we will as we both liked out stay last time. This time we are planning on staying in the Grand Harbour Hotel in Valetta. It overlooks the Grand Harbour and is handy for the bus station as well as the main shopping streets in Valetta.

I do agree that Valletta is central and you can go everywhere with public transport. It's cheaper than other means of transport.

On the subject of bus travel. When we were going to the Gozo ferry by bus, an old lady got on, crossing herself as she did so. This prompted the thought that she did not have much faith in the safety of the bus or the standard of the driving, but it was probably a usual thing for her and no reflection on the safety of the buses :)
