It has been said that a hot glue gun is to a woman what duct tape is to a man  

Ok, now you've hit a sore spot, LOL! I got a hot glue gun for gluing some seashells to something, and the %$#@ shells would not stick to anything, regardless of how much glue I used. So I gave my glue gun away.....ha ha!

I've used both before. Altho, I've learnt if I'm going to use a hot glue gun it needs to be a low temp gun. And even those still burn so I make sure to have cook water close by. Usually when I use a glue gun I'm doing some kind of craft. But to be honest Alene's craft glue is easier on the hands and probably works better.

Usually when I use duct tape it's just to hold something together for a short period of time.

I love my hot glue gun; however, if it is hot, no matter what it is, it seems I HAVE to touch it. So, I go with a low-temp glue gun that is way less painful. Also, I make cowboy hat bands out of pheasent feathers, and when I glue down a feather i tend to touch the glue every time. here again is where a low-temp gun saves my fingers.

Hi GardenGerty, as for myself I do believe I would be like you and burn myself I have actually used it for my clothes in regards to hem, pants. but as far as the hot glue is concerned I would leave that to my husband.

Now I think that is true! You can do so many things with a hot glue gun. I have even seen some of those home makeover shows where they used the glue gun to make curtains and everything! LOL Even though I love using the glue gun, I still manage to glue something to the table at least once!

I'll tell you what, I think I should have been born a male because I love to repair things; even though I'm not that good at it. If there was a way, I'd go back to school and learn how to do certain repair jobs.

We have a strange shower; we can only use one of those hand-held sprayers that you pull out and can put back. It's all right as far as that goes but the shower head tilts when it rests in the holder and when my husband showers, he props a shampoo bottle against it and the wall so that he gets a straight spray.

I am so short that the spray hits me in face, so I just remove it and then replace when finished; but every day I go in, it drives me nuts to see that shampoo bottle!

I don't know why he doesn't fix it and I don't know what needs to be done, or I'd do it. Instead, I used a bunch of duck tape to keep it stable. For now, he's happy and I'm happy...lol

That is funny I can see that. I don't have one anymore though. I lost it need to buy a new one. There is alwys something that needs to be glued around here.

I am known as the queen of duct tape use. My Uncle Lewis dubbed a car that I owned a roll of duct tape on wheels. It passed inspection and got me by until I could save for another. Duct tape is awesome.

I use my glue guns for a lot of things, but I too have found the glue in the tubes to be best for the projects that I am doing. The adhesives hold the items better than the hot glue. Hot glue tends to "give" and lose its hold.

I use both. I even bought each of my girls a glue gun for Christmas one year. they thought it was a bit weird but since then they have each used it. I told them you may not use it often but its there when you need it.

Whenever I use a glue gun, the glue dries before I'm able to stick the two pieces of crafts together! I hate using hot glue guns because I am also very bad at using them.
