| cats and unusual herbs  | | | |  I bought an herb, Valerian today to try for a nervous condition. I had left it out and my cat got very interested. She tried to open the small package. So my granddaughter put a very small amount on her scratching post like we do her catnip. She started acting like it was her catnip. The thing about the herb is it does not have a pleasant order. She became more hyper than if it were her usual green herb. Has anyone ever encountered your cat doing any thing like this?

| |  I found a "Valerian FAQ" online that explains that to cats, valerian is very much like catnip. Despite its uses with humans (ie aiding sleep and restfulness), it seems it drives many cats into a frenzy of excitement!
