How well do you know your cat !

I had two wonderful cats for almost 20 years .. they are sadly missed ... The first cats to be 'tamed' were reputedly African Wildcats ... Egypt had a big rat problem and the ancient Egyptians recognised that cats eat rats ... so they left out food for cats who would then stick around and also eat the rats. Cats mainly spread around the world by 'stowing away' on ships Sometime around the Dark Ages cats were worshipped in Britain and if you stole or killed a cat you could be sentenced to death. Cats have more than 100 vocal chords ... for comparison dogs only have 10 ... Cat pee will glow if a blacklight is passed over it ... Cat cannot see anything directly under their noses and this is why your pet may not seem to find tidbits on the floor. Cats cannot digest cows milk properly and it may give them diarrhea. Cats don't have a proper collar bone which is why they can seemingly squeeze themselves through impossibly small gaps. Cats have 24 whiskers in all .. 4 rows on either side .. the upper and lower sets of whiskers move independently and whiskers are used for measuring distances .. Cats purr at the same frequency as an idling diesel engine, about 26 cycles per second A domestic cat can sprint at about 31 miles per hour A cat can jump 5 times as high as it is tall.

Thanks for these interesting facts. I am a cat lover and slave to several cats, heh heh. Actually it is a true pleasure and I would not want to live life without cats in it!

Thank you for these little tidbits! On the point of cats not digesting cow's milk, I wish more people were aware of this. I have been trying to convince my family members (grandmother, aunts, sister) to stop giving cow's milk to their cats for years, but they just won't listen!

If you spoil your cat when she is a kitten, she expect to be spoiled her entire life. haha i love my kitty but she is spoiled rotten! but that just makes her more lovable :)

"Cats cannot see anything directly under their noses and this is why your pet may not seem to find tidbits on the floor" Now it all makes sense! I used to think my cat was just really dopey lol. I remember my biology teacher in high school telling us that cat's don't have elbows? Poor things :)

Wow I am impressed, you should go on Who Wants To Be A Millionaire Toots LOL. We have four gorgeous cats, a brother and sister long haired, tabby and ginger, a tabby and a kitten. I would really miss them if I moved away because they belong to my housemate. They are so much company, very loving, very independent and part of the family. Worshipped, most definitely our four cats are very much worshipped in our household.
