Puffer Fish? |
| |
| Does anyone have a puffer fish? What type? How old is yours? Size? My bf had one for quite some time. Poor thing has passed away though. I wouldn't mind getting another. Have you seen the freshwater ones? Sooo cute! | | | | | |

| | I presently have a freshwater puffer. He/she is a spotted puffer. I had 2 others a few months ago, they were the figure 8 puffers. For some reason or other.. they only lived about 2 months in my tank. But this spotted puffer seems to be doing just fine. He just LOVES to eat the tiny snails that are all over my tank. He/she/it I have had now for about 8 months. It is great to watch my 4 year old feed it by hand, the little blood worms. Takes them things right out of her little fingers. | | | | | | |

| | We had a Hawaiian Spotted Puffer named Bob. He was awesome! We got him in February '04 and he passed away in December '04. We had a roommate who up and left one day - leaving her marine tank behind. Her fish started dying off - the only thing left was a Yellow Tang. We went to PetCo and thought the puffer was cute, so we got him. It didn't hurt that the girl in the fish dept wrote down his price as being $4.99 - he was supposed to be $49.99. He was very personable. We loved that fish! Jay, the Yellow Tang, died shortly after getting Bob. We got him a little shark that we named Nergic, but Nergic had suicidal tendencies - after doing xmas shopping we came home to find Nergic dead on the floor outside th tank. Poor Nergic! We went to another pet store to get Bob a buddy (he would look depressed when the other fish died)... We ended up getting him a horseshoe crab - the girl at and the owner of the pet store said they'd be fine together. Wrong! Within 2 or 3 days, they had attacked each other enough times that neither of them survived. We put Ben (the crab) into a seperate tank and gave them both stresscoat and everything, but they both ended up dying. Very sad. We both cried over Bob's passing. We were very attached to him! I want to get a porcupine puffer some day when we have the money to get a proper tank and all the accoutrements. They have such expressive faces!! Oooh, and I don't know what "freshwater ones" you're talking about. But, puffers tend to be "brackish" - living in the areas where the freshwater rivers meet the saltwater ocean. They can live in either environment. | | | | | | |
