How do you cook? Do you use a lot of spices or not? Do you use coconut milk? Do you use oil? Do you cook your meals at home or do you just eat out-doors all the time?

hi,in our area,we use only sunflower/palm oil for food preparations and we used to eat spicy. Here mostly people prefer to cook in home only, but in recent times due to globalisation people are prefering go outside also weekly once.

I cook in the kitchen mostly - England isn't famousfor itsbarbecue season but do cook ouotside when I can.
I use spices a little and have used cocnut milk for curries etc. I used extra virgin olive oil and try to go as fat free and additive free as I can which means I make a lot of simple foods from scratch.
I like to cook bread and got a bread maker forchristmas which is making life a lot easier. My boys favourite at the moment is old fashioned oatmeal bread (with rolled oats and honey in), you can't buy it from our local shops so I have to make it.

You are health conscious I see. We cant use olive oil cos its very expensive here. So you use coconut milk. We also do that everyday, most of our curries. I also like to bake.

It always amazes me how far apart our worlds are, Olive oil being to expensive to use and using a lot of coconut milk instead of every couple of weeks as a treat, often when we talk we seem to have similar values etc but in a lot of ways we have totally different lives, you don't seem so far away online, lol.

Thank-you so much for giving my your best response!

We have a large family so it is expensive to eat out so normally we eat in. We also use a lot of lean meats for the kids and Olive oil.

My cooking styles have really changed over the past 5 years. Prior to that, being a working couple household...we would eat out a lot or have a lot of quick microwaved dinners. When I didn't have to work, I was able to find time to make more meals at home. Over the past 5 years, I've started discovering fresh spices like garlic, red onions, green onions, basil, rosemary, sea salt cracked peppercorns, also Olive Oil etc. they really make a difference to your mouth's pallet. I've never tried coconut milk in any particular recipes other than fruit smoothies...instead of regular milk. We still occasionally eat out for our favorites like pizza, french onion soup, and wonton soup and other oriental cuisines. I prefer to bake or grill on the BBQ. I've vowed not to use the microwave any more, since my mother got cancer my views of foods and preparations have extremely changed.

I hope you will come back to this discussion cos I have a question about not using microwave. Do you think that leads to cancer? Anyway, I have heard that taking spices in your food tends to minimize the cancer causing cells.

I cook at home six days a week. I tend to use lots of spices and to experiment with seasonings and portions. I rarely use an exact recipe, I just toss stuff in and taste as I go along. I use olive oil for cooking whenever I can and as many organic ingredients as possible.

I use spices cooking my food but not a lot. In case of oil, I use olive oil for cooking and vegetable oil for deep fry.
