I have bad teeth, a week ago it was an abcessed tooth in the front on the top. Now it is an abcessed tooth on the bottom also in the front. Last week the abcess that was on top burst on Friday night. Now my face is all swollen again and boy is it painful. I am waiting for my pell grant check so that I can go down to Mexico and get this taken care of. I have been using grapefruit seed extract as an antibiotic but I am thinking I will need more antibiotics. I just have to make it through until the second week in February. Any suggestions?

Girl, you should be rinsing that infection every day with (in this order too!) Listerine, lukewarm salt water, plain old peroxide then brush and rinse again with Listerine followed by cold water. That will helpkeep the abcess down....that regimin is the only thing keeping my face from looking like a beach ball right now.

I have had so many tooth abcesses! It is not even cute. Molars that I still have number 3 (which makes chewing a steak a difficult task) however we endeavor to continue with all the dental work and getting a partial set of dentures. My fiancee is about to turn 50 I am 32 and I need partial dentures! Is that not ironic?

Swallow your pride Sharon... get them all out and have a full denture set. You really would be better off. I have never mourned the loss of mine and avoided ongoing traumas as the remainders deteriorate. Awww I do feel for you...

i usually pop a couple of tynelol extra strength to take the pain away, but you really should get a different antibiotic so it does not get infected.

IMO something way better than advil and tylenol is Naproxen (Aleve)....I switched to that a few months back and I have to say I'll never use Advil again..

WOW,that's messed up.Not the Bad teeth part, but the pain that goes with it.I've had abcesses So I realy feel ya.There are tons of free clenics and dentist schools that work on your teeth for free or very cheap.I take it your not on your man's insurence, if he even has any.No offence.Years ago I was with someone and could'nt put them on mine, unless we were married. Some clenics give out perscriptions cheep or free For antibiotics.Non-profits.Check around in the phone book,Call some of the Planded parent hood offices they have resorces,They might be able to point ya in the right direction. make a few calls and ask for refurals.Hope this helps.I know how ya feel,For real.

I am wondering... If you just have "bad teeth"? Your repeated infections are possibly due to other conditions. A poor diet can cause these. Are you really getting enough green stuff down you? Not overcooked either. I remember having a "sty" on my eye. A friend said that I should have more greens particularly caulliflower. That evening I ate a whole caulliflower, the following morning the "sty" was gone. This has worked for others that I know of too. This info wont remove your abcess, and I wish I could fix it for you. But prevention may be something to look at. Best wishes ..

I know how does it feel as I have toothache two days ago.It started at 11pm until the next day morning. The whole night I put ice cube on the bad tooth to ease the pain. But every 15 minutes the pain will come back, the dental clinic is not open during night time. That night was so long for me.You know what? The next day morning the doctor advice me do a small surgery to remove the nerve.I took it because the pain cause migrain to me, and there is a hole in my teeth that already hurt the nerve.Even the doc repair it,the pain still there.so, I make a decision to do it. It cost me a lot for that single tooth. So, please take care of it.And go to the dental check twice a year. This is the pain that I can't stand and I hope it would not happen to me again.

There is a website here: http://www.netdoctor.co.uk/diseases/facts/dentalabscess.htm It says to not put anything warm on your face, but applying something cold to it should ease the swelling, and taking ibuprofen should help with the pain. You will probably need antibiotics if it becomes severe, but I wouldn't wait very long!
