I am trying to find the difference between coconut milk and coconut extract. Can you substitute milk for extract?

Coconut Milk is the same as Coconut Cream, it is thick, white in color and creamy in texture. Coconut extract would give you the flavor of coconut for certain foods like cakes, this would be more like using vanilla extract as flavoring for a cake or cookies. Extract is more liquid in form and is a highly concentrated liquid used as a flavoring for baked items, sweets, drinks, or desserts.
You were right in using the coconut milk/cream for curry as that is one of the main ingredients for Indian-style and some Asian-style curries (like Thai curry). The coconut extract would not have been appropriate for this type of food.

In doing a little research, I don't believe that you can substitute the milk for extract. You can substitute coconut cream or milk for the coconut milk.
Might I ask what you are making? I love coconut
