Question about myLots rating system

I dont think so thers any limit to rate others.it helps to spot spammers so why would they stop someone from doing it. even i do the sameas yours.

I don't rate at all.

personally i do not think it really matters, i love to rate my responses and normally give out + to almost everyone even if i do not agree with their response. the only time i give a negative rating is if they are breaking the rules such as only posting a one word answer or posting something that does not relate to my discussion.

I don't think that there is a limit to a person's rating. But I do see your point of questioning if it matters after a certain point.
I look at it this way. If someone does not like that person's opinion and rates the person with a negative, my postive should cancel out the bad rate, right?
There are people that actaully get upset at others with their response.
Such as, "Oh great! There goes BrokenTia responding again. I really get sick of her long winded responses. I'm gonna start giving her a negative everytime I see her now. Maybe that will get her goat. ha ha"
But would I really deserve that poor rating?
I would hate to think that because someone does not like my opinion or my long responses that I would be discredited. And as many people there are out there, I am sure there are some that think this way.
Personally, I do find I am always rating the same people with positives.
But I hope that with me rating them with a postive each time I read their responses or discussions, that I am actually encouarging that person to continue with what that are doing.

That's an interesting question. I do find myself giving the same ratings to the same people, which I think says more about them than me. Some people just consistently answer well or poorly. I wonder if there is a limit. It wouldn't surprise me if there were, to keep people from just boosting the ratings of their friends.

I think that as long as you're rating people honestly that it really doesn't matter what other people are doing. As we have all seen on myLot numerous times ... there will always be someone who tries to abuse the system. I really wish that people would understand how to use the rating system, in that you don't hand out "-" for answers that you disagree with, but instead for breaking myLot guidelines.

I do wonder if the stars influence people's ratings, if people follow the crowd and give people with higher ratings a "+" everytime and people with a lower rating a "-"?

I rate all people that reply to my discussions with a +, as long as it has to do with the subject and is not justa single word answer. The - are accordning to mylot rules only to be used when people spam or break other rules of mylot..
I also hand out a bst response to the person who has answered in the best way!

personally, i don't give ratings because it's their own opinion. there negative or positive or good or bad opinion for me. it may contradict with my opinion but i don't mind them in the end.

I only give negative ratings to those who post irrelevant responses or one or few worded responses. The positive ratings go to those who think out their responses and put effort into them.

I am really not sure about your last question. MyLot staff are the only ones that truly know the answer to that question.

Basically I will go through any single responses in my own discussion and will rates them with mostly positive rating as am really appreciates their efforts to make a responses to my topics but somehow I do found that some of them were really serious and have make very good and meaningful responses while some might just simply make a responses to boot up their user ratings. In either case provided you didn't responses with one meaningless word or was totally out of my topic I will still rates them with positive ratings.It doesn't matters were them the same person or difference person as for me I truly feel that the quality of the contents was the priority concern and thus it shouldn't have any limitations in this case.Lastly to your last question in your topic...yes am sure either negative or positive ratings will surely affects your reputations otherwise it will be meaningless for us to use those good or bad ratings
