Save a bundle, make your own wedding flowers.  

When I was married I carried a plastic fan with silken flowers on it. It was not a real formal wedding and not in a church so we had plenty of friends and a nice meeting room for the reception. My flowers on the fan matched the cake and my groom wore corresponding rental tuxedo colors too! We had a really nice time and saved plenty of money. This is a great way to make your dollars go even farther when you are blessed with a good budget!

I still prefer the real flowers. When my daughter got married, my son's fiance was a florist, she got the flowers at cost, and the labor was free. We also used live plants and flowers when she married my son. At my own wedding,(second) I bought live plants, and flowering plants, I used some silk flowers along with them. That was before either of my kids got married. I do like to use silks for shower decorations.

Oh yes! I made my own flowers for my wedding. I shopped for weeks finding loose flowers on sale or discount here and there. I even made the mans there little single flowers for their lapels. It's been 9 years since our wedding and I still have my bouquet. It's still as pretty as the day I made it.

In my family, I was raised around everyone always making the arrangements.
My mother in particular would be the one that would make them because she took classes on Floral Arrangements.
And your right, some of the artificial flowers look incredibly real.
I saw this one rose that looked so real that it even had simulated dew drops on them!
It was so great, I had to touch it to see how the dew drop felt! :)

Buying Flower Arrangements nd bouquets from florists can be very expensive so I used to make quite a lot of flower arrangements for our local church, particulary for special for confirmations, communions and weddings. I purchased the cheapest flowers available and cut the greenery from my garden. I always saved the oasis and ribbons from previous flower arrangements so this saved a lot of money.

A friend of the family made all of the flowers for my wedding, even the ones for the men. In the middle of my bouquet were a few real flowers and this is what I removed and threw at the reception. That was 30 years ago and when my daughter go married, I pulled my boquet out of the cedar chest and she used it for her wedding. All we had to do was purchase a small bouquet of real flowers for the center and she also ussed that to throw at her wedding. We made all of her flowers for the wedding also and saved a whole lot of money, not to mention the fun of doing it together!

That's a fantastic idea, especially for people who are trying to put together a wedding on a shoestring budget. I agree that you can save a great deal of money by shopping for artificial flowers at a discount store, but sometimes you can get even better deals by buying bulk lots on eBay. You have to be careful who you deal with, but I have recently seen lots of 80 or more artificial roses that are selling for under $20. The same roses can sell for approximately $4-$5 each at a craft store.

Oh! we love to do floral decoration in different parties all by ourselves. It gives us, me and my friends, lots of pleasure and excitement. We usually go to the wholesale Flower Stores in early morning hours wherefrom we can buy flowers at a lower cost, atleast one-fifth the price they are available in local market. Then we use cotton thread, ribbons, plastic tape, metal wires and sundry other items to make different decorative shapes- like rings, oval and straight-chain form. Whatever we do, we always keep in mind that symmetry is beauty so we try to make everything symmetrical. We have earned a lot of accredition for what we have done so far. But this is not our profession, we simply do it for enjoyment and a little bit savings as well.

Yes, I agree. I used real flowers for my wedding, but unfortunately I didn't end up saving in the long run, because I miscalculated the temp in my fridge, and on the day of my wedding, I opened up the door of my fridge to find all of my roses, FROZEN!!! I was very upset, but luckily one of my friends makes boquets, so she made up some new ones for me while I got ready for my wedding, I would have saved money, had I not had to buy them TWICE.. (: oh well..
