Mamas and Papas Member Dead at 66   

I loved the Mamas and Papas and I still play their music. I was really sad when they broke up as they were one of my favourite groups back in the 60's. I much prefer 60's music to some of the rock music that is constantly blairing on the radios these days, but I suppose it is a matter of taste.

yes, I have heard of them. I had not heard that one of their members had died. I guess that the only one I knew by name was Mama Cass. But I really love some of their songs. I can't think of the name of the one that I absolutely adored that I used to hear on our oldies station, but I'll go look it up now and let you know. Let's see.. The song that I'm thinking of is one taht is all about their career and mentions things about the members in the lyrics. I just can't find it online right now.

There are other songs that I like a lot, but I thikn that those are two that I love the most.

I have been sick the last few days and did not know this till a little while ago when I read about it on gather. I remember them well. Had a style all their own.

That's really a shame, I listened to their music back in the 60's and 70's and now on the oldies stations. They were a good group and I know most of their songs by heart. How sad.

Love the Mama and the Papas. I have California Dreamin going through my head. It popped in as soon as I read the title to your discussion. Cass Elliot was one of the greatest. Her voice powerful. The group song is such lovely harmony.
