Gift in a jar are such a wonderful gift for wedding showers, birthday gift or Christmas Gifts. They are always well received. I have one sister in law who brings her jar back when it is empty for a refill. Her Christmas gift literly lasts all year long. LOL The directions are for making them in a jar, just skip that part if you are making them for use now. I love gifts in a jar. They look attractive in the kitchen and are so yummy. Kids love this dreamsicle cookie recipe DREAMSICLE COOKIE MIX Ingredients: 1/2 C. powdered orange flavored drink mix, such as Tang 3/4 C. granulated sugar 1 1/2 C. vanilla baking chips 1 3/4 C. all-purpose flour 1/2 tsp. baking soda 1/2 tsp. baking powder Preparation: Combine the flour with the baking soda and baking powder. Starting with the Tang, then sugar, vanilla chips and ending with the flour mixture. Layer the ingredients in a clean glass wide mouth quart-size jar. Press each layer firmly in place before adding the next ingredient. Remember to add the following instructions to the jar: Dreamsicle Cookies Yields 2 1/2 dozen Preheat oven to 375°F.Empty contents into a large mixing bowl. Add 1/2 cup softened butter, 1 egg, slightly beaten, and 1 Teaspoon vanilla extract. Mix until completely blended. Roll Heaping tablespoonsful into balls. Place 2 inches apart on a lightly greased baking sheet. Bake for 12 to 14 minutes or until tops are very lightly browned. Cool for 5 minutes on the sheet then remove cookies to wire racks to cool completely

Yes, we love them. I do not post discussions that I have not tried and tested unless I say so in the article. I am funny that way. I am not one to copy and paste someones elses recipe just for the fun of it. I tweek recipes till I am pleased with the taste and thus it becomes mine.

Wow, I printed this out, it sounds delicious, but I am going to try it a powdered drink-mix that uses an artificial sweetener. The other 1/2 is diabetic. If it comes out good, I will post it. Thanks!

I am enjoying your cookie recipes way too much. This one sounds great. I don't know if the ingredients would last too long in my house. I can see it now. I assemble the gift for someone. Look at it for a minute and then open it, make the cookies and eat half of them. HMM...I wonder if half the already baked cookies would serve as a good gift? Just kidding...about giving half the baked cookies away...not about opening the jar and baking. You have some great recipe posts!

I think that the Gifts in a Jar are great! They do not have to be eaten immediatley, and if you really just want you could just use them for a decoration. But, I have a quick question. What are vanilla chips? I have never heard of vanilla chips. Unless you are talking about white chocolate chips. Anyways, thanks for the recipe! :)

Vanilla chips are like chocolate chips only off white in color and have a vanilla taste. The generic brand usually says White baking chips. They are the same size package as chocolate chips come in also

OH MY! You have hit upon my daughter's and my weakness! We love anything dreamsicle! A friend of my daughter's makes a delicious, although VERY fattening, dreamsicle pie. My daughter and I have been trying not to indulge in that pie! These don't look nearly as fattening as the pie. What a great treat to keep on hand for guests! I am so happy to get these 'in a jar' recipes. I am forever needing a little gift and they are perfect gifts! Thanks so much!

Wonderful. my oldest daughter had a christmas pary here with her friends and one of the things they did was make a gift for theri parents. Yes, cookies in a jar. Parents loved them and this was our first time doing it. I cannot wait to do this again. We also made them for all my kids teachers, activities and family members.
