Any advice for writing for associatedcontent.com?

I have heard a lot of about associated content in the past few weeks on various sites, and I went ahead and made an account there, but I haven't written or submitted anything there yet. I minored in English in college, and can write fairly well, so I thought I'd give it a shot. I'm an artist, but I take alot of breaks from painting to do other things, mainly on the computer. I also like to have money coming in from various sources because some months are better than others with selling paintings. Anyway, I was wondering if any of you who have been writing for them for a while have some good advice for me before I get started? Thanks!
