Well Kathy I do not recommend this but a couple of months back things where so bad here that I would only have a Sandwich ones a Day I lost a Stone in those 2 weeks I am now slightly underweight and I have not put any back on even though I did eat a lot of Chocolates and that at Christmas
The best way to loose weight is watch what you eat and how much you eat they also say drinking a lot of Water during the Day helps
And if any young Girls read this PLEASE DO NOT TRY IT I WAS VERY SICK AFTER BUT I WAS FORCED INTO DOING THAT AS I HAD NO MONEY FOR FOOD
Sorry Kathy I had to put this in

Gosh Gabs, that's some story. Sometimes I read your posts and I think you should be writing a book. I hope you're never that badly off again.

there really is nothing that will work better and longer then Diet and excercise. You have started by eating better so take a walk during lunch or something along those lines. Remember that you can get healthier and still be the same weight. Throw away the scale and go for a walk. You will feel better.

Yes you are right that you may not lose that much weight but still be a lot heathier than you were before coing any exercise but I am happier that I have lost a lot of weight but the trouble now is I have to go out and find some more clothes that will fit me.

I have problems with my weight due to massive fluid gains which can occur overnight when my body decides to be awkward and reject its thyroxine, but when I was fit I found walking the very best way to keep my weight down.
I walked everywhere, always took the stairs and not only saved money on fares but also met lots of people to chat too.
I don't consciously actually care what I eat as long as it is healthy, but because of the pattern of shopping I only have treats every fortnight anyway - panacotta is the current fave - and if I have biscuit I don't have cake and if I buy panacotta then I shan't have ice cream, mousse etc.
I find that works best for me.
I think gym or any exercise is good for those who enjoy it. People used to mock me as I said that playing darts kept me fit, but work it out, I used to practice for three hours a day, every day, as well as matches. That is a LOT of walking!
Even Snooker means a lot of walking.
So you don't have to be a gym lover to lose weight.
I can't find the link at the moment but it has also been proved somewhere that if you take a light hearted approach to your weight watching and do not stress yourself out you will actually lose more weight than if you stress out and adopt a stringent regime.
Good luck :-)
Hey, I had another thought. You keep posting the most wonderful recipes! Bet that doesn't help, all that cooking, ooooh yum!

well, working out is good, but walking at least 30 minutes a day is better. i am on a low carb diet and have lost 3 pounds this week so far. ear more but in small quantities. count calories when you eat out. make sure that you have a small salad with you meals and dont put alot of dressing on it.

what i do inorder for me to lose weight, is that, first thing to do, i will examine my diet, and think of a new diet for me, then list down what i needed to eat and what i dont need to eat, i usually eat a lot of vegetables and lot of rice, but i dont eat pork or beef or anything like that, then i will schedule my exercise every morning and afternoon, my morning exercise is jogging for about 2 to 3 kilometers everday. and then in the afternoon, i do workouts, sit-ups, bench press, pull ups.

I have done a few things. I think the best one I have done is South Beach Diet. It is a good book and helped me a lot. SOmeone mentions eating an apple before a meal. A trick I learned, similar is to drink metamucil before eating. This will fill you up some so you do not eat as much, but it will also keep your regular. A lot of times when you diet, you can get constipated. I think it was the south beach book that made that suggestion. Good luck, weigh loss is never easy.

I started trying to lose weight at the beginning of this year and I was going well until this week. I just cut down on the amounts I was eating, like you did, and I started exercising for 20 minutes every morning. Drinking water is supposed to help to shift fat too.

Water! Drink lots of water. It will fill you up and make you not as hungry. I honestly cannot lose weight though unless I'm exercising regularly. I have a Tony Little gazelle that I have set up in my living room and I use it while I'm watching tv. I can get a half hour to an hour workout watching my favorite tv show and not even realize I'm exercising!

Hi. I do not at all find it easy to lose weight. When I was younger I used to be able to just starve myself and the pounds did fall off. Then I got pregnant and had a child at 21 and the baby fat never did go away. I did lose weight but never that little pudgy roll she left for me lol. I do exercise on occasion when I get the chance to. I have tried the atkins diet and it helped a little bit but it is hard to just fix food for yourself only when you have a husband and child to feel also. It also gets to be expensive. Have you tried maybe the energy or boost bars to give you energy to burn more calories? Reducing calories is a very good start but if you arent doing anything to burn the calories you did intake, they may store as fat?? Possibly.
