I don't know about you but I hate cleaning my oven racks. I don't mind cleaning the oven but detest trying to clean those pesky racks! A friend told me about an easy way and I tried it today, it really does work and is so easy! What you do is: lay the racks down flat on two to three thickness of newspapers. Spray both sides of the racks with oven spray. Place the racks into large trashbags, tie shut, and leave overnight. The next day, rinse clean! (I did all this in the back yard with the garden hose! They are sparkling clean and I don't have the red, chapped, rough skin and broken nails that I used to have when I scrapped and scrapped on those pesky racks! My friend said this worked well with a pan that had baked on food too. I haven't tried that yet!

Wow, great idea. Thanks so much for sharing that. I just leave them in the oven when I put on "oven clean." But, they loose their shine that way, but are clean. Have a blessed day dear.....we all love you...don't leave us. M&M

I hate everyy thing about cleaning the oven. It's so hard to reach rhe back of the sides. I wish the door would come off to make it easier. That trick about of spraying the rack and puting them in a plastic bag sounds great I'll have give it a try.

I also use that method when cleaning oven racks. I hate it and I especially hate using over spray and scrubbing them because my hands always look like they are going to fall off.

I'm envious. I actually enjoy winter and miss having had one this year! It was 52 here today...which is one of our colder days. *frown*

Thank you so much for posting this! I am going to try it, but it won't be outside for a few months yet. Where are you that you are lucky enough to get into your back yard with a hose in January? It will still be easy enough to rinse in the laundry tubs in the basement.

Hi Lauriefnp, well, I am one who actually enjoys winter, so I feel very cheated! I am in Kentucky...in the eastern ky coal fields.

That is really awesome! I will have to tell my family about this method, as I am certain that we could use it for cleaning our oven racks the next time that they need cleaning. We also use pans for cooking our lunch or supper sometimes, and this also sounds like a great tip for cleaning pans, even though you said that you haven't tried it on a pan just yet. THanks! ^_^
