I will always remember my first dog. I mean the first dog you could call your own. Not your childhood dog but the first one that you picked out and brought home to take care of. My first dog was a Siberian Husky that I found at a local shelter. I named him Cody. He was perfect in nearly every way. He was a purebred and of good size. He was smart and listened well ... for a Husky. He was agile and athletic. But most of all he was a great companion. We took lots of training classes together so we could really enjoy each other. He was the star of the class. He lived a great life with me and my family. He died a few years ago and I really miss him. I still have another Husky that we bought about a year after Cody. He is a loveable old guy but he is not Cody. I love him for his own special gifts.
Tell me about your first dog. I would love to hear about it.

Yes i agree. The first dog usually would be your most loved and remembered one which would really stand out with thre rest. My first was a Cream Female Chow Chow. Although it is a bit hyper and not that obedient compared to other dogs. We still love her as our family pet until now.

The first one I got as an adult was a shih-tzu. We named him CoalDust, CD for short. I had him for 10 years and I loved him dearly. He was great. He not only was a great companion for me but was also good with my neice as she grew up. I was heart broken when I had to put him to sleep. He had cancer though and was blind by that point. He was in a lot of pain and I knew I wouldn't want to live that way. I couldn't put him through that. I still miss him. Yes he had his faults, don't get me wrong but over all he was one of the best dogs I ever had.
