Children's Literature - Which books do you still like to read? |
| |
| I love the Anne of Green Gables and the Emily series by L.M. Montgomery; in fact I read several Anne books not long ago. Are there any children's lit. books that you still like to read? | | | | | |

| | I'm actually reading through that series right now (Anne of Green Gables). I actually started a long time ago, but stopped for a while. I'm reading Anne of the Island, currently. I also liked the Chronicles of Narnia. A lot of those books I consider "family books" not just children's books because they're something the whole family would like to read. | | | | | | |

| | That's true what you say about them being family books. These types of books, for me, are what I also call comfort books because they're nice to go back to,even though I've read them so many times already. | | | |

| | Only recently I bought Madaline. I loved this book when I was a child and saw it on sale and had to buy it. It brought back so many memories. When my kids were little I had the chance to read to them Charlottes Web and Charlie and The Chocolate Factory, which I really enjoyed, it gave me an oppotunity to revisit my past too. Its funny you mentioning Anne of Green Gables. I remember watching the TV series of this when I was little, many moons ago. | | | | | | |

| | I love Charlotte's Web but it's been a while since I've read The Chocolate Factory. I remember the Anne of Green Gables series too; I think it was on Hallmark or Family channel. | | | |

| | The Phantom Tollbooth by Norton Juster is one of the cutest, cleverly written book for children that is just as amusing for adults. Also, the Shel Silverstein poem books still warm my heart. | | | | | | |

| | I've never read the Phantom Tollbooth, maybe I'll give it a try. :) Shel Silverstein books are wonderful; we were given one as a gift after our first child was born years ago. | | | |

| | I still read the L M Montgomery books that I have-- Anne, Emily, Pat, Jane. I love all of them. Children's books are such wonderful things to continue reading forever because what you learn about in childhood really sticks with you and sometimes it's nice to go back and remember what that was like. | | | | | | |

| | As I grew up on Enid Blyton books I still love and cherish those, especially The Famouse Five. I also love Grange Hill, it was a long running series about a school in London and they produced a selection of books which I have read over and over again. | | | | | | |

| | "A Tree Grows in Brooklyn" Betty Smith "All of a Kind Family" Sydney Taylor Best in Children's Books ~ series "Little House on the Prarie" Laura Ingalls Wilder "Anne of Green Gables" L.M. Montgomery (A-n-n looks absolutely dreadful, but 'Anne' with an 'e' is quite distinguished) There are so many of them...oh, and the Paddington series. Right now, I'm reading the first two books on this list for fun. Reading doesn't hold my interest like it did when I was little. Being a full time mum took care of that! ~Jael | | | | | | |
