Hello everyone. I realize it's still too early for garage sale season, but I'm thinking ahead here. In the past I've had garage sales and they've been pretty successful. I want to have another one in May or June, and I was wondering if anyone has any advice to make a garage sale very successful. All advice and tips will be greatly appreciated. Thank you so much for all responses!

It's definitely not too early for planning a spring garage sale! I'm planning on one myself again this year. At my sale I've got 4 other sets of family members that will have items there too. To make it easier at checkout time, each family has their priced and tagged materials written in different color (thin line) magic markers. My tags get black ink, my one daughters is green, other daughter blue, etc. Then when the person checks out to pay, you assemble each color together and tabulate them up, write the price paid onto a paper (colored dot above their name) and keep a running total on a calculator for the final price they have to pay for their items. Doing it any other way takes a lot of figuring out at the end about who gets how much money from the goods they sold.
I've included a couple of links here that have downloads for preparing for a garage sale. The first one, organized home, has a printable yard sale checklist that's nice. Plus they have a lot of good ideas here. Ehow has some different, but good, ideas also:
