My son has ADHD and has a lot of trouble with English. He has a hard time sticking with it long enough to get the work done. He does great at Math. I was wondering what other children with ADHD find easy and difficult to do.

My 11 y/o son has problems with all his subjects although he has very creative stories and is very good at mental mathematics. He has major problems with reading, writing and spelling. But over time I hope he can pick up a little. We read every night to try and improve his reading and spelling.

My 13 year old has always been great at mental math but every once in a while I find that he is having a little more trouble with doing it on paper this year. His main problems have always been english though. The thought process is there, but I think he just has trouble concentrating long enough to get it down on paper.

My son is the same way - he struggles most with language arts - wirting and reading - they take a lot more long-term focus than Math. He thinks Math is fun - and was thrilled when he got math worksheet pages to do at home.

You're right, even things like story problems give him a lot more trouble than other Math problems because he has to focus on what it is he is supposed to be doing with the numbers in front of him. He can have the exact same problems written out for him and just zoom through them.

My middle daughter has ADD. She does best in things that excite her and right now it's science. SHe had had good and bad times in just about all of her subjects. When it's something that she is excited about then she seems to stay with it better. I know sometimes I think that's *all* kids, but I think in regard to kids with ADD/ADHD, it affects them more when they lose interest in a subject.

You're right, it is true of all kids to some extent, but I think it affects those with ADD/ADHD more than most others because they get distracted more easily than most other children.
