FOIP over broadband

Prior to using broadband I always had fax facilities set up on my computer, so I could fax direct from a document or spreadsheet etcetera and receive faxes direct to the hard drive. When I changed to broadband I lost that option because ADSL uses a different frequency. I checked on the availability of FOIP (Fax Over Internet Protocol) and discovered that it was not compatible with broadband.
I am aware of the fax to email options but prefer not to use them. Does anyone know if fax via broadband is possible yet?

The DSL line is for data only. While the dial up uses the same as the voice and fax, so technically it's not possible on broadband. As you mentioned, there are a lot of internet services as a substitute to a fax machine or modem. Or you can utilize your mobile phone to receive and send data (but you have to check for that first with your operator). I'm not aware of any other solution.

I realise that dsl is a different frequency and that is why the splitter is required to seperate the computer connection and the telephone line. However, with technology advancing as fast as it is there is always a chance of someone arriving at a solution, although I did not hold out any great hope.

Not that I know off. I've never heard of it before. But, I don't think it won't be long before they invent that.
