When & How Did you learn to play Guitar?  

I love it when people learn. It is so full-filling. I tell you that 'Music Makes Me"

Without music I would be one sad little man. But I have loved music since I was, well as long as I can remember.

I was told early in grade school, buy the music teacher, that I had not talent and not to bother to try and sing. I was crushed and never really sang where anyone could hear me for my whole life. Well until I was 47.

I was a computer hardware/software instructor and a couple of my students invited me to one of their jams, so I went. There wasn't much they played that I didn't know and they couldn't understand how come I didn't play, so the next time I came to their jam they had an extra guitar and they stopped playing until I picked it up and tried. I was terrified, but not one of them laughed or made fun of me. :)

I am 53 now and I play every single day, at least 2 and mostly 3 or 4 hours a day and we have at least one jam a week.

I had a heart attack in Feb. "Friday 13th" 2004 and have been limited to doing almost nothing, but I can still play guitar. Without it these past three years I am sure I would have gone into a deep depression.

So I taught my students well and they returned the favor and taught me something I can do until I'm dead.

I play a $75.00 Yamaha FG-410 I bought from a friend that was buying a new guitar. It has served me well and I know a lot of rock and country now. It has been quite a ride to say the least.

i started learning just three years back but made good progress because i already knew the keyboard!!!!!

About 5 years ago in community college I took beginning guitar in the summer, intermediate in the fall, and then advanced in the spring. After that, I went on to a university and played in the guitar ensemble for a couple years.

Part of me wishes I was still in it. But I work now and don't have time. It was so much fun though.

just last summer.. through a guitar tutor. had 2 month lessons with 3 times a week session.

I guess I have been playing guitar my whole life (26 years), even before I could talk! My father plays guitars so as a baby he would let me hold his guitar and play it. I started getting lessons when I was 6 years old. I had lessons up until I was about 16 years old and have been self taught ever since. Some of the stlyes I had lessons for are classical, jazz and rock. I do not have a favourite style, I like all music.

My brother bought a guitar a while ago with the intention of playing it but little did he know that actual patience would have to be used. lol. So when he went away to university I picked it up and actually bought one of those teach yourself guitar books. If anything, that book made me get comfortable just moving my fingers around the fretboard. The first song i learned was the I,The Throw Away by Matthew Good Band tab. It wasn't pretty, but it got the job done and motivated me enough to keep playing.

Now I have 6 guitars in my house and consistently work on playing the guitar behind my back. Jokin, well kind of.

I got interested on playing guitars when I was 14, my uncle is a good guitarist and have played abroad. He's got wide array of musical pieces that he plays, from spanish to rock, up to our local kundimans!;) When I can't seem to get the correct chords on a song, I always refer it on him and give me some pointers by how to manage it through some broken chords..

I learned how to play guitar in community college. It was pretty fun. I knew I probably would be too lazy to learn on my own. Plus, the classes were only $11 a class back when I was going.

it was 15 years a go for me perhaps.I played accoustic guitar.and then major and minor schales.And then pop songs and then heavy metal,rock n roll and last time i played blues.
