I have had doctors tell me something I already knew. I eat when I get stressed out, or either I don't eat at all. Either way it causes me to gain weight. Either I am putting in loads of calories my body doesn't need or I starve it until it stores everyhting I give it.Well It took years to accept my unhealthy relationship with food and do something about. So now when stress kicks in I get on the elliptical machine or I do kickboxing, I even draw and paint. Thankfuly these methods have worked so far. So what do you do to combat stress and the dreaded weight gain that creeps in its path??

after a stressful day, i try to deviate myself from the source of my stress like work. so i never bring home my work and make it a point that i finish everything in the office. i would then proceed to doing activities that doesn't require any mental challenge at all like listening to some music, watching TV, watching some videos and playing computer games or the playstation. on other occasions i just tire myself physically so that i can sleep right away in bed so i jog after work or go swimming. hope this helps.

Stress, boredom, and depression are all factors that can crush a diet and cause weight gain. Winter blues add to depression. Exercise is one way to boost your endorphins. Light therapy helps with the blues.

Of course , writing lyrics is again another mentally challenging job, but it is a job that you love to do. So it won't be causing stress, or will it? If that too you don't want to do, then listen to the music alone and try not to listen to the lyrics. You can enjoy music that way also.

I enjoy writing my lyrics, but sometimes I just want to let my mind flow instead of focusing so much on soething like a song that I might be stuck on.

I don't think stress is a pound adder. You are a singer and a singer must be a music lover too. Why don't you try music as a stress reliever? Listen to music and get relaxed. I'm surprised that this didn't occur to you, a music lover! With music, both your body and mind can relax. Try this next time when you are in stress.
