Does your cat shed?  

I have only had Jasper for a few months and he has not stopped shedding. It is cold now and I thought he would stop, even though he is a house cat. There does not seem to be an end in sight. I brush him everyday and also wipe him down with a wet paper towel a few times a day. I find it cuts down on the amount of hair and on his hairballs.

My cat sheds as well and no it has not stopped for the winter season. I brush him out and wash him every so often... other than that it is a lot of vacuuming.

I DONT think you can do much about it but keep a lot of lint rollers on hand. I see them at Wal*Mart for a $1.00 or pay more for a larger one! Get lots! DONT wear things you think will attrack hair more (like black shirts for example or pants). I have cat hair on ALL things and ALL on me too. And dog but more cat. I dont think they shed as much during winter as they do in spring or summer. I know in spring and summer they are shedding their winter coats so they she'd more. Just some advice.

Hi there...some of the contributing factors which cause cats to shed is lighting, seasons, diet and how often a cat is groomed. Cats are not only seasonal shedders rather it's because of the lighting, called “photoperiod”. Year round indoor cats will shed more because during the winter season household/artificial lighting is on longer during the darker hours.

my one cat sheds all the time. he's a long haired cat and it's all over my house. i try and vacuum but then it just gets all over the house after i vacuum. i comb my cat too and that helps a little bit but it doesnt take care of the job completely. i use a pet powder that i put on the carpet it's supposed to get the hair up that's imbedded in the carpet and it makes the house smell nice.

I have five cats and they all constantly shed year round. I have found nothing to eliminate this problem but it helps to brush them every day (if they'll let you). I have one cat who refuses to let me brush him. The cat brush I find the most useful is one that looks like it has bent wires on it. Also, you might try using a flea comb and combing the hair against the way it grows. This way you remove the dead hair in the undercoat also.
