If I want to duplicate my own CDs for my personal use (like ripping a song for my iPOD from a CD of my own or keep a backup copy in my computer) would it REALLY become a CRIME ?? If you are making a backup copy for your own personal use then that is allowed. It's only when you share that it goes into breaking copywrite law.

actually, yes. it is. that's what sends me up a wall and makes me flaming mad. any back up is a crime. its a crime that is impossible to prove however.
