As i have gotten older, I have noticed all the green areas are being filled with new houses, The children aren't safe to play in the streets and so many things are changing, I remembered this poem I wrote quite some time ago . I hope you like it,
CHANGES
I went out in my car today
It's where my troubles fade away
It's a shame so many flowers are dead
But the trees are shades of rusts and reds
The squirrels around the oak trees run
From little acorns they began
The worms beneath the earth they wriggle
And children playing in puddles giggle
I look to the right what do I see
Where children used to play with glee
There's hammers saws and drills that scream
In places that were calm and green
Over there they're building flats
With workmen wearing bright hard hats
You see that tree beside the spring
Twas on that tree I used to swing
I swung there on a length of rope
When I was a child and full of hope
Never dreaming that there would be
Houses as far as the eyes could see
There's not much more that I can say
Just try to think the modern way

Yes, sadly I feel the same, things ain't what they used to be ,and I get very melancholy about the way the world is turning out, and relating to the post you made about people being able to leave their doors open and how it was like in the good old days, they have all but vanished. Thank you for sharing another one of your special poems.

This i so nice. I feltr transorted to that tree and the swing. Did you write it, its really great. I was wondering that how universal this poem is, I am from India and still can relate to this. I wrote on esimilar to this in my own language Hindi ten years back, it was about how tall buildings are taking over all open spaces and we are now lacking for that sunshine that used to cover my courtyard from one end to another. The place and time all keeps changing and this is life-it has always been like this and it will always be like this. Only change is permanent in this world.

Nice poem. I agree and I have noticed the changes too. It can be quite upsetting. But the world's population is growing so quickly. I guess we should be glad that we got to grow up when things were a little less hectic.

Beautiful poem. You are quite talented. I agree that the world is a changing more and more everyday. I grew up in small rural area, where nothing bad ever happened. I wish that I could say the same today for my children, but I can't. We live in the suburbs of Sacramento, CA where the change in the past 20 years as shocked me. But such is life. I do wish for more peaceful times, thank you for taking me back, if only for a moment. Good luck to you at mylot!
