...that I am in my house and I find "extra" rooms. Sometimes it's an extra bedroom but last night it was a bathroom ensuite (I don't have one at home). Does anyone else have these types of dreams, and who knows what they mean?

My boyfriend has those kind of dreams. I have a really interesting book about decoding dreams, so I looked up "Houses," and here's the first thing I read: "Whether the dream house is a familiar or an unknown dwelling, it can symbolize the dreamer's very being. Exploring a house can signal the beginning of a journey of self-discovery, prompting the dreamer to develop some new facet of him- or herself---especially if the dream involved a familiar house, but with different rooms. Discovering a new room in the dreamer's own house could mean uncovering a new aspect of his or her personality, or it could foretell imminent change." ("Dream Decoder," by Dr. Fiona Zucker and Johnny Zucker) I hope that's helpful to you.

This is very interesting! I often dream of being in an unfamiliar house and am exploring the rooms inside only the hallway constantly changes and I find room after room. I started keeping a journal of my dreams and I believe that this may have a lot of truth to it as these dreams usually occur whenever I am facing a new road to travel in my life.

Depends on the other aspecs in the dream. But dreaming of bathing represents psychological cleansing. Water symbolizes your emotional nature, you maybe trying to cleans yourself of negativity. Maybe the extra bathroom is a sign of wanting to cleans your emotions and start over..

Thanks pinklilly - I don't have alot of negativity around me at the moment but I guess I can see how "starting over" relates to where I am in my life right now. Thanks :-)

I've had many of these types of dreams. In my dreams, it's usually a secret passage way that leads to this extra room. It was always exciting for me to find them and was quite a bummer to wake up and realize it was all just a dream. Unfortunately, I have no idea what it means. Hopefully, someone out there can let us know.

When I was young around 11 or so, my parents were looking at a house and we all loved it. Being the jerk that my stepfather was he decided after my mothe fell in love with it, we shouldn't move. When I was about 17 I started having dreams about this house and wandering around in it, but it was abandoned and falling apart. I would always be following a young girl and she would lead me across boards in the rafters. Way across the room we would come upon an infant in a bassinet. It was crippled (don't know how I knew this) and it was me. That would be it, I would always wake up just looking at this baby that was supposed to be me. I had the dream for years periodically. Very strange our dreams can be.

Hi mari61960 - how mean of your stepfather. It's amazing how long these feelings from childhood last and manifest themselves in our dreams. Thanks for sharing.

I have had this dream about my house for over 18 years, not only do I have extra rooms but I have a set of stairs that takes me up to an even bigger house. With an incredible kitchen and huge bedrooms, and a front porch. I have no idea what it means, but sometimes I have the dream 5 or 6 nights ina row.

It sounds like a very positive dream! You are destined for bigger and better things maybe?

I am sorry I have no idea what it means but I have the same kind of dream often. I know that presently I don't really have enough space/rooms for all of us, so maybe that has something to do with it, something that is on my mind. The fact is that often i dream about my house and suddenly i find extra rooms. The strange thing is that although they are not real rooms, since i don't have them in my house, I usually seem to recognize them or know that they are there. Sometimes it's only one room, sometimes a whole "apartment" inside the house.

Hi arkaf61, When I moved into a smaller house, I can relate to this because I know when I moved into a smaller house, finding enough room was a concern for me too and I used to dream about this. Now it's not so much a concern. Thanks for your response!

When I bought the house I am living in now, now only did it have extra rooms in my dreams, it had an extra floor and the rooms were huge. I also had extra rooms down stairs, I could not figure it out. The dreams started before I moved in the house and continued for at least 5 years after I moved in. The rooms changed but the gist of the dream was still the same.
