I just dont know what is up with my cat lately. She has never been one to jump on my counters till lately. I know cats are diry and I worry about cleanliness in my kitchen.
I try to be frugal in my everday life. I make my own mixes, spice combinations and foods from scratch. I also make my own drain cleaner and other cleaning supplies.
Counter Top Disinfectant
2 Tablespoons Ammonia
1/2 cup rubbing alcohol
1/4 cup vinegar
Water
Put your ammonia, alcohol and vinegar into a spray bottle. The dollar store sells them cheap. Finish filling the bottle with water. This disinfectant will also work in the shower, on the sinks and other places that you want to disinfect.
Be very careful and DO NOT mix the above ingredients with bleach though. It is for this reason I suggest that you start with a new spray bottle the first time you make it.

Well thank you this is a very good idea
I like cheap solutions too
And I think it is a good idea not to use bleach to clean your cats mess because cats are actually drawn towards the smell of bleach so they would be more likely to do their messy jobs were you bleached ...
Some add a dash of bleach in the corner of their cat's liter box so they come and do it here ...
I will definately have to try your disinfectant!

Another good recipe for the care of our homes. Just ease up a bit, since being too clean can bring its own set of problems. A dedicated bottle is just what this recipes deserves. In fact I will share this one with my Mother. Thanks for sharing this with us.

I'm sorry that your cat has been jumping onto your counters more often lately, villageanne! I can understand your concerns about cleanliness. I think that your note here about how to make your own disinfectant is so cool! Those ingredients are all things that all of us must already have around our homes. I know that we have those things in our house, so I'm certain that I could make up some of that, as long as I go out and buy a new spray bottle to start with. Nifty! ^_^

Thank you. I cant wait to try it. I love that it uses cheap ingredients we have in our home and replaces something we spend a lot of money on.
