How many guitars do you have? |
| |
| Ok, it sounds a daft question but my partner currently owns 14 guitars. We have a*guitar mountain* and, together with amps, speakers, rack systems, etc., the back bedroom has gone from being a guest room to a music room. He has some very expensive gear, ranging from a Gibson Les Paul to a Fender Lonestar Stratocaster. He does play them all, only a few ever leaave the room for gigging however, the rest are purely for home use. I wonder, all you guitarists out there, how many do you have and what are they? | | Just a *few* guitars | | | | |

| | Oh, you're partenr is absolutely addicted to guitars! But you know, it's okay because guitars make a good collection. Anyway, I don't own any guitars because I don't play. But a close friend of mine has 3 guitars currently and she still looks at guitars that are on sale. | | | | | | |

| | Ahhhhhh good! I wish I had a lot of guitars, amps and stomp boxes... but I know this will stay a dream! I own two guitars (Stagg and Squier), three stomp boxes (two Boss and one Behringer), one amp (Laney), one digital multifx (Digitech). | | | | | | |

| | The Fender Squiers are great guitars, I am learning on one of my partners at the moment. He has around 17 Boss pedals, plus a 12 hit pedal board, Marshall Head, 2 4 x 12 speakers, Mesa Boogie Triaxis and a Mesa Boogie 20:20 and we have another Marshall amp in the garage plus a Marshall bass amp. I joked with him when we went to see Iron Maiden that his set up was almost as big :-) | | | |

| | Oh my God, how much gear! Squier is better for not so heavy genres (blues-rock). When it comes to hard & heavy, my Stagg guitar is better. | | | |

| | Oh yes that´s a absolutly beautiful guitar but the price is to high for my money purse. Also the Gibson guitars are very expencive here in germany. I will never buy one it´s to much money in my opinion just for a guitar. | | | |

| | We have to watch the budget too, I always said that if money were not an issue then I would get him his beloved Gretsch. | | | |

| | Jay writes a lot of the material, often influenced by The Cure and the Mission. He has also written a lot of songs which he can't really put into any particular genre, more what he was feeling at the time. He wrote a song for me a little while ago which he called *Solstice Goddess* which is influenced by Wayne Hussey of the Mission | | | |

| | My, what a collection. I wonder who does the dusting in your house. I have just two guitars. One is a Hondo and the other is and electric Avenger. I don't really know how to play the yet but I am hoping to take lessons next year. I'm busy at the moment taking violin lessons and I also want to learn to play the clarinet. | | | | | | |

| | The 50 watt Peavey's are pretty good aren't they. Most of my partner's gear is in the spare room now, it has turned from a guest bedroom into a music room/studio as he has his recording gear set up in there. He's thinking of selling a few of his collection of pedals on eBay, do they fetch much these days though? I get where you are coming from with the fitting into a small car though, the last gig we did was pretty difficult as I had to fit a lot of gear into my car since the old van gave up on us before Xmas. Thanks for responding hun | | | |

| | Yeah.. it´s a Peavey classic 50´s, i like that small thing it´s the best amp i bought over all these years, i just got new tubes for it and i´m really pleased with it´s sound. I don´t need heavy distortion and it has a real nice clean sound. Also it has not much controlls on it and that´s what i like, only what´s needed. I also owned i big Marshall stack but it was one of these valve state models not bad but not the best ones i only bought it because the seller made a good price, it was second hand. But your man has nice guitars as i see, specialy the Strat looks beautiful i love them in white colour, mine is a Strat european 50´s player, as far as i know they only made 250 sold in europe. It´s a great guitar like the ones made in the 50´s but with some new adds on it like Texas Special pick ups, staggerd mechanics, i put in a photo so you can see it, it´s also vintage white but with golden pickguard. Thanks for your comment and wooohhhh... best response your to kind. bye Mike | | | |

| | As i expierenced through the years my opinion is, it´s not necessary to have huge amps and speakers on stage it just get´s far to loud and a small amp with 50 watt blown over a good pa-system sounds awesome enough, i got sick of allways carrying that heavy stuff on stage. | | | |

| | Jay finds that the stack is too big these days, unless we are playing at one of the bigger venues. I think we may well be getting rid of it soon though, in favour of smaller gear. | | | |

| | Hi there, haven´t been online the last weeks so just stoping by to have a see on your topic. Very nice Telecaster on that pic, i must say i never was found of the Les Paul model. On Gibson guitars i like their Firebird and the SG model but i don´t have one of these guitars. ps. Do you remember that guitar Carlos Santana played in the mid 70´s i think it´s a Yamaha guitar i forgot the models name maybe you know it or your hubby, that´s also a great guitar i tryed it years ago in a store but didn´t have the money to buy it. cheers | | | |

Lewah69 (1166)
|

| | Yes exactly the Yamaha SG 2000 now i remember the nameas i read it, that´s a great guitar in my opinion. I think that Carlos had the best sound in playing that one, i sure no that it´s the player him self who creates the sound on his guitar but still i prefer the period where that was his main guitar and not the PRS guitars. | | | |

| | Hahaa... reminds me of when I went to see Ani DiFranco and the opening act was teasing her: "Just what does one woman need with 16 guitars?" My BF has one guitar. There's a bass in the livingroom left by a long ago roommate. I need to do something with it. We also have assorted bongos, djembes, zithers, flutes, and a few other percussion instruments bouncing around. | | | | | | |

| | Currently got my self 4 guitars, and looking to expand. Im not really a one genre guitar fan, but pretty much allround, and that goes for which guitar to play as well. I play the guitar that suits how I feel. And there are just way too many guitars that I want for me to stop collecting now :P | | | | | | |

| | I have one...holding it for my b/f (that's possibly on his way out) that was my ex husband's (I bought his old ones). I don't know how many he has (my ex though had about 6 or 8 plus assorted basses). Nothing expensive (mostly amps--now THAT could be where he put the money). This is a Fender 12-string electrical acoustical (ok, basically it's an acoustical 12-string that can be plugged into an amp). | | | | | | |

| | He also had an assortment of higher-end equipment--gads, if he had held onto a few more years, we'd have been quite ok! This is his old guitar; I bought 4 or 5 from him after he left, as well as our daughter's old sax (which I bought for her, then was reimbursed and bought back again). He's had 1000's in equipment (lots of amps, including some rare ones). He's quite knowledgeable but could not translate that into a job to support his family! | | | |
