Richard Dean Anderson |
|
How many of you remember Richard Dean Anderson before he was on Stargate as General O'Neil? Don't get me wrong, I love him in the part but he has done many roles before then. I've enjoyed him in many of the shows he did. I loved him as MacGyver. That was a great role and a great show as well. I also liked him though in Seven Brides for Seven Brothers, a very short run musical show that he played the lead on. He was good on General Hospital too for that matter. So do you like Richard Dean Anderson and if so which role or roles did you like him best in?

1. speqter (119) | 3 years ago | Yeah... I miss watching the MacGyver series. It was really awesome! Correct me if I'm wrong, but Anderson also composed the MacGyver theme song.

emeraldisle (8978) | 3 years ago | Well according to the imdb.com he didn't compose the music for it but that's all I have to go by. I haven't heard either way on it.

4. misskatonic (2646) | 3 years ago | I loved Macguyver. I wanted to*be* Macguyver. The man could do anything. I never, ever missed an episode of that show. I watched with eager anticipation to see what he would do next, how he'd get himself out of Dangerous Situation Of The Week. And I still remember all the bizarre things he made, and how he once used a fish as a saw.
At some point I want to get it on DVD - I keep seeing it and thinking 'that'd be a great show to have!'. I didn't watch him in much else, honestly, aside from SG-1, but he will always be Macguyver to me.

emeraldisle (8978) | 3 years ago | Heheh yeah he came up with some neat stuff. I wouldn't want to get on his bad side that was for sure. Never know what he might come up with. I'd like the series as well but a bit out of my price range at the moment. I do like him on SG1 as well.

5. dragonryder (3573) | 3 years ago | I love him as an actor but sadly I've only ever seen him in "Stargate:SG 1" and "MacGuyver". I loved his hair in "MacGuyver"...so curly and soft looking I just wanted to run my fingers through it! LOL And he was so ingenious. I know,it was his character, but still....And in "Stargate:SG 1" he's such a smartass but it's so funny.I think he'd be great in a big screen movie. Stephanie

emeraldisle (8978) | 3 years ago | I know what you mean. When I heard about him being on Stagate I really expected him to play Daniel. I'd seen the movie and could picture him in that role more so then the military guy. I was really surprised at how good he is in the role. I loved the one where he and Tel'c kept repeating the day. He looked like he had fun with that episode.

6. chaygylmommy (1822) | 3 years ago | He will always be MacGyver to me.:) Everytime I see him, that is immediately what pops in my mind. He is pretty good looking, I have to say. Not someone that I immediately think of when I think of TV star and I am not sure why not since he is a great actor and not bad on the eyes.:)

emeraldisle (8978) | 3 years ago | I love the commercial he did recently for Mastercard where he reprised the role of MacGyver for it. I think most know him as it. He is very nice on the eyes I agree;)

7. Myrrdin (1641) | 3 years ago | I do enjoy Stargate SG1, however Richard Dean Anderson will forever be MacGyver to me. It was his defining role I think. I heard a rumour once that Anderson was interested in doing a MacGyver movie, anyone know about that?

|
emeraldisle (8978) | 3 years ago | Well they did make 2 for tv movies after the show ended but that was all I saw of it. The TV movies were pretty good and I enjoyed them. I think a MacGyver movie would be great to see.

Myrrdin (1641) | 3 years ago | Yes I remember a TV movie being made, I can't remember if I ever saw it or not.

8. APMorison (276) | 3 years ago | I love RDA, I've loved most everything I've seen him in.
A tiny bit of RDA trivia from StarGate - Amanda Tapping originally ad libbed the line in the series pilot about "McGyver-ing together" parts to make the stargate work (it stuck and it got the attention of the casting people;) ) In the pilot she spoke the line to Michael Shanks who spent part of his first encounter with RDA working as film crew for McGyver one season.

emeraldisle (8978) | 3 years ago | I didn't see many of the first few seasons but I have heard they teased RDA often asking for MacGyver tape for example. Now I the one special were they showed some out takes and bloopers. It showed one with him and the woman who plays Carter on a block of ice. She looked at him and stated "Can't you take ....(list a few items can't remember what exactly) and build a nuclear reactor? I'm stuck on an iceberg with MacGyver" He of course lost it at that point.

9. fjaril (4616) | 3 years ago | Hi my friend! Thanks for posting the picture. I tend to forget his name and I have no excuse for that. I used to watch the MacGyver show where he so cleverly knew how to do so much and always rescue 'the girl'. I have recently seen one rerun here and i thought,, whaa?? what happened,, it seemed so 'sappy' now.. but at the time, it was wonderful!! and I love his acting as well!
Then I also watched some episodes of Stargate Sg1 and thought it was okej.. you know being but a 20th century earthling at the time. But now it is BACK!! here in Sweden as a rerun and I tell you, it is actually funny!!
I am all for time travel but why we are going BACK to this old stuff beats me. Still, we are having some good laughs at old shows. I am just feeling my age, maybe? LOL

emeraldisle (8978) | 3 years ago | Hehe I understand forgetting the name. It's easy to do. I do it with many actors/actresses as well. I know the face but the name I blank on.

10. ukchriss (1700) | 3 years ago | Richard Dean Anderson has appeared in the pilots of six different series: 'Seven Brides for Seven brothers,' 'Emerald Point N.A.S.,' 'MacGyver,' 'Legend,' 'Stargate SG-1' and 'Stargate: Atlantis.' The latter is the only one on which he was not a regular. Along with Michael Shanks, he is one of only two actors to appear in the pilots of both Stargate SG-1, and the spin-off series Stargate: Atlantis.
I loved him best as MacGyver which was First telecast: September 29, 1985 and Last telecast: August 8, 1992. In the last regular episode, MacGyver discovered the son he never knew he had -- a young man named Sean Sam Malloy (Dalton James) -- and the two got on their motorcycles and rode off into the sunset to bond....
Richard plays the guitar, and has even tried his hand at composing, including the original piece, Eau d'Leo, which was used in the series MacGyver.
I didnt like him in the western type series Legend.
Filming will start 15th April 2007 for his new project. Stargate: Continuum

dragonstar13 (1211) | 3 years ago | I believe young MacGyver's name was Sean Angus Malloy and he went by his initials, SAM. It was the Angus, being MacGyver's unused and much hated first name, that finally convinced MacGyver that the boy was his son.
| |
|
|
emeraldisle (8978) | 3 years ago | It is S.A.M that he went by. The middle name was Angus after MacGyver because his mother loved the name Angus. Sean was the first name. Sometimes info on the net is not always right, that is a problem sometimes with fan sites.
