I know a gentleman personally since my childhood,he is 85yrs old now he is extremely learned academically, extremely succesful in his career, extremely successful in his personal life, family life as well as social life,he has spent his most of his life in different countries and cities as Govts representative/diplomat.Yesterday I met him physically as he no longer stays here, comes only for a short holiday,he adviced me "NEITHER MAKE DEEP FRIENDSHIP WITH A COP/POLICE, A LAWYER, AND WITH A POLITICIAN, NOR ALLOW ANY SITUATION IN LIFE TO ARISE TO MAKE ENEMY WITH THESE PEOPLE, AS MAJORITY OF THESE PEOPLE ARE UNRELIABLE,UNPREDICTABLE,WITHOUT ANY MORALS OR VALUES AND CAN BETRAY/HARM/BITE YOU ANY TIME WEARING A FRIENDSHIP ARTIFICIAL MASK". What is your opinion??????????????????????????????????????

I think the person who said that is a bigotted, closed minded jerk, that's my opinion. Since when are key personality traits defined by profession? I know many police officers and lawyers who are scoundrels, and I know many who are fine people. The job you hold doesn't define what type of person you are. Defining a person by their job is, at the very least, ignorant. I don't base who I form my friendships with off of what type of job they hold or what they do for a living. I base my opinion of people on their traits alone.

I could care less if he used the word majority, minority or very few. The fact is that he's defining his opinion of the people based on their professions, and whether you agree or not, that IS ignorant and closed minded. It would be the same as saying the majority of people on mylot have no lives, since they're on the computer so much ... or the majority of obese people are lazy, or the majority of women are golddiggers. None are true, and they're all BS stereotypes, not to be taken seriously and spouted by closed minded people that don't use a portion of their good sense .. if they have any at all.

I find that to be a strange judgement of people in those careers. I personally have many friends and family members that Police officers and lawyers. They are reliable and decent people in friendship and the community. I think it was poor advise your friend gave you.

I am 65 years of age and I must disagree with the 85 year old gentleman. The occupation a person has does not determine if that person is worthy of your friendship. I have friends in different occupations that are loyal and will never betray nor harm me.
