Whenever i say to others that i have been married for 4 years, they respond by saying that 'the honeymoon period is not yet over' I am getting so fed up with this answer. I would like to know how long is the honeymoon period. Is it till we start fighting with each other?

I always heard it was the first year of marriage, never four years down the road. I think like someone else said that they are just using the honeymoon phase out of context.
My husband and I have been together for almost nine years now and been married for almost four of those.

the honeymoon period is what other people use because they are insecure about their relationship. I think people use it out of context. Originally it is the first year or so of marriage when people cant keep their hands of each other and are still into the new excitement of marriage. I think you can still be in love with your spouse 25 years from when you get married and still not want to keep your hands off each other and such. If you at 4 years are still in your honeymoon period, it seems weird, because the majority of marriages last only 5-7 years, so that wouldnt make sense.

I have been happily married for 12 years now and we have been together for a total of 15 years. We are still deeply in love with each other and I don't think our honeymoon ever ended. I think the honeymoon will last as long as you want it too. I think most people claim the honeymoon is over when you start to lose deep feelings for each other.

I don't think that's right. I think the honeymood period is 1-2 years. I've been with my husband for 15 years but we've been married for 4. My mom was saying the other day that usually if people are going to get divorced it's before the 10 year mark. Maybe that's what they mean?

What makes the honeymoon period??? Enfatuation??? Lust?? Attraction?? I think that we just have chapters in a relationship. I think my honemoon period lasted a few years. I also think my relationship is even better now, because you find the things that make you fall in love with someone else, and you begin to cherish them more. I relish my wife more now, then ever...even after the honeymoon is over. Anyone else feel the same way?
