The present standard of living should it be sacrificed to protect tomorrow's enviroment. This is exentially the argument by those who resist any attempt to control the emission of green house gases. What do you think?

I have seen Al Gore's Oscar winning movie twice. I have read the IPCC 21 page report summary. I have gone over several technical web sites about the subject. I have gone over actual raw data. It really looks like global warming is occuring, but that man's ability to do anything about it is almost non-existent. Not that we should not try, we should try. The most useful things we could do would be to further study what greenhouse gasses really do in the atmosphere, (we actually still really do not know!) and make contingency plans for what to do as the earth heats up over the next century or two. The contingency plans are very important as man's ability to turn this is going to be very limited.
