Tarzan - Johnny Weissmuller was my favorite actor in this role.

Oh, my goodness...I used to love watching him; I would watch every movie that came on when I was a kid. I used to dream at night that I was Jane; I loved him so much...
Truly, think he was my very first crush, and when I found out in later years that he was an olympic swimmer, I wanted to do the same...lol
Thanks for the great memory, Butter...

Young Johnny Weissmuller was unbeatable. He was a wprld olympic champion who never lost an individual event; he had the confidence of a champion in his tarzan movies But he was underpaid and when he asked for a pay rise he was dumped because Sol Lesser said he was getting too old but Jock Mahoney was older than Johnny Weissmuller when he first became Tarzan!!
Johnny was strong and looked at least as good as Elmo Lincoln and Gordon Scott when he was no longer slim! These two tarzan stars were never slim but they were all right because people(directors) accepted their original shape which was not slim but bulky(muscular)!Johnny looked incredibly good , chunky but not too fat in his Jungle Jim films! His tarzan films were not in colour either they spent very little money on the RKO black and white films and copmared them with colourful and more expensive films of Godon Scott's like Tarzan's Greatest Adventure,Tarzan the Magnificient!!

Even though I was not a Tarzan fan, I do remember Johnny Weissmuller when I was little. My father used to watch that show and how he would keep telling me that Johnny Weissmuller is the best Tarzan around. He also mentioned that he used to be an Olympian in the field of swimming. My most memorable scene is the one with Tarzan wrestling an alligator. I thought it was exciting.

I guess I was one who thought that Johnny Weissmuller was Tarzan when Lex Barker became Tarzan I stopped watching any of the later movies.

I got totally confused when this happened. I remember questioning my mom about it.

You should get some Tarzan videos that starred Johnny Weissmuller, he was the best. I did enjoy Christopher Lambert in Graystoke, the Legend of Tarzan

Yeah I am not a big fan of Tarzan movies but the oldest black and white one some of it was made here in my town in the Florida State Ravine Gardens. www.FloridaStateRavineGardens.com or so I was told I am not real sure which Tarzan movie that it was part of either.

Was Tarzan movies in teh 60s? I think so..I was born in 1970 and have only seen a couple on tv. I am not sure of any of the actors except Christopher Lambert...he is SOOO hot! Well, I guess I should say he WAS hot. The last time I saw him, he wasn't that great looking anymore...he looked sick or something. I did like the Tarzan movie I saw, though...not sure who the actor was who played the role on that one. I will have to check them out again. I love old movies and haven't thought about Tarzan in a long time.

I remeber watching these movies when my family would go and visit my grandma in CaSS WV. I was a great fan of Tarzan, still am. I loved the Tarzan cartoon while growing up. I love the Disney version too.
He was my hero, Daniel Boone, Bionic women, wonder women, Shazam!
