Do You Want To Grow Herbs? |
| |
| Growing herbs is a great way to add variety to your cooking. The key is to have the herbs at your fingertips so you just have to reach up and snip off some when you need them. Is there an extra window somewhere that you would like to "green up"? Why not add some shelves to the window you already have and add pots of herbs or vegetables. Then you have your won indoor potted garden. Admit it, it sounds appealing to you and there is that window in there that would be perfect to use that space and grow herbs or veggies to eat! HUH?? What do you think? | | | | | |

| | i have perpemint growing outside in as many places as it will grow. it grows vigerously it it has just the right amount of sun. it is interesting to see where it thrives and where it won't grow. Which Herbs would be best to start in my north facing window? I aslo have a south facing window i could use but i have a fantastic tree in my front yard which keeps my southfacing window in the shade about 90% of the time | | | | | | |

| | This is such a great idea, can you suggest any that would be fragrant and add a nice aroma to the area where they are kept? | | | | | | |

| | That's funny, I was just thinking about this yesterday. I'm afraid the only really good window I have is my kitchen window which has shelves filled with african violets (different colors and styles) and Christmas catus. I was however looking at my bedroom were there is a good sunny window but my cedar chest sits in front of it. I was thinking about a "strawberry pot" those ones with the little openings for plants along the sides, one would sit nicely on the cedar chest and I could put herbs in rather than strawberries - I'm sure not all herbs would work but was thinking some might. | | | | | | |

| | Had a discussion something like this a couple of months ago and am interested in your responses. Tis a good idea for health and nutrition and just makes your indoor environment better. Introducing fresh herbs into your diet can lend itself to improving taste and health. So if at all possible we should indeed have some herbs attending our kitchen. Thanks for sharing this today. | | | | | | |

| | I've thought about doing this sooo many times but just never got around to. Do you know if those erb "kits" grow decent herbs? I've never really been sure of which kind of method or kit works best. Any suggestions? Thanks. | | | | | | |

| | You would need to check with your local extension office as to which ones grow best in your area. They offer their services for free. I did a discussion on County Edtension offices. On that discussion , I posted a link to find the nearest one to you. | | | |

| | We grow basil in our apartment. It's quite easy and has really spiced up our cooking. It also makes for a good little gift for friends and neighbors who enjoy cooking. buying fresh herbs is expensive, and dried ones just don't have as much flavor. Plus, growing herbs in the house makes the room smell great. | | | | | | |

| | I think it is a great idea. I have often wanted to do this. But, I have two cats, and it is impossible to do something like that indoors. I don't have a green thumb, but would still love to have fresh herbs. The dry jared ones do not compare to the taste and freshness of fresh herbs. Nice post, rating you a + for it. | | | | | | |

| | I would love to grow herbs. I have a perfect bay window. My problem is my spoiled rotten tabby cat! He will not leave plants alone. He nibbles on them! He ends up killing most all of my house plants by chewing on them. I know he would be attracted to herbs! My husband and I cook with a great deal of herbs and spices so to grow our own would really help costs as well as the indoor Air Quality ! What on earth can I do about this spoiled cat!?! | | | | | | |
